Kick back with the kiddos and enjoy a warm & sunny weekend in June! Savor that first taste of a summer strawberry at Alstede Farm’s Strawberry Harvest Festival, show your adventurous family a good time the Privateers & Pirates Fest at the Tuckerton Seaport or tap your toes along to Irish step dancers at the New Jersey Irish Festival at Monmouth Park. Strawberry Harvest Festival (Chester, NJ)
To usher in the first official month of summer, head on down to the annual Strawberry Festival at Alstede Farms, where you can gorge on all things berry! Sample homemade strawberry ice cream, strawberry shortcakes, strawberry milkshakes, strawberry lemonade, strawberry pie and more – whew! And if you still haven’t gotten enough of the juicy red fruit, take a wagon ride out to the fields for some strawberry pickin’ before you head home.

Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog (Jersey City, NJ)
Inspired by the popular PBS kids series, Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog at Liberty Science Center transports visitors right to Birdwell Island. Preschoolers can engage in educational activities that reinforce "Clifford's Big Ideas" - ten simple, tangible life lessons that help children navigate their world, such as Share, Play Fair, and Be Truthful.

Sheep Dog Trials (Morristown, NJ)
Back by popular demand at Fosterfields Historical Farm, watch the amazing teamwork between a Border Collie and handler. Responding to the handler’s voice and whistle commands, the Border Collies will direct sheep through a challenging obstacle course. The whole family will be amazed as you watch over 80 intelligent pups from all over the country.

Privateers & Pirates Fest (Tuckerton, NJ)
Ahoy mateys! Learn about all things pirate at the Tuckerton Seaport, the difference between privateers and pirates, and then become one! Discover pirate history – authentic and make-believe – plus a treasure scavenger hunt, costume contest and pirate craft activities. Then enjoy the crew of the Valhalla Pirates with historic pirate entertainment.

New Jersey Symphony – Meet the Orchestra (Newark, NJ)
Tweet, crash, plink! Meet each instrument of the NJ Symphony through Britten’s delightful Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Explore all the different sounds that an orchestra can make and cheer on your favorite instrument group! Learn more about the music, participate in fun activities, play games and meet musicians during this interactive time that’s perfect for the whole family.

Build a Rain Barrel Workshop (Pennington, NJ)
Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association is offering another great workshop to teach kids and their families how to capture and reuse rain water in a home garden. The instructors will work closely with the group so each family can construct their own rain barrel. Class includes all materials to make one barrel.

Cinderella Remix (Newark, NJ)
Cinderella gets the hip-hop treatment in this contemporary adaptation of the timeless fairy tale. This Cinderella spends her time mixing beats and dreaming of becoming the hottest DJ in Hip Hop Hollywood. To realize her dreams, she’s forced to disguise herself as a boy – and prove to the world that girl power rules. This brand-new production at NJPAC is powered by song, dance and original rap from Imagination Stage.

Sunday, June 8th

Endangered and Extinct Canoe Day (Tenafly, NJ)
Celebrate the beginning of summer at the beautiful Tenafly Nature Center with a scenic canoe ride on Pfister’s pond - a once a year treat! Enjoy short family hikes, live animal encounters at the salamander pond and seasonal crafts featured in the education pavilion. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy together with fellow tree huggers.

Father’s Day Breakfast & Craft (Florham Park, NJ)
Join in on an early Father's Day breakfast of bagels, juice and coffee at Imagine That! Children’s Museum, followed by a seat at the craft table. Kids will craft and color a special giant card all about daddy. Then stay and play all day as you explore a real airplane, a fire truck and even more arts & crafts!

New Jersey Irish Festival (Oceanport, NJ)
Visit Monmouth Park for this lively and unique festival celebrating Irish heritage! Entertainment includes live music, step dancing and a bagpipe competition. Food stands, craft vendors and children’s activities, as well as a wacky “human horse race” add up to a wonderful day of family fun.
