Many Philly families enjoy Super Bowl Weekend by gathering around the television with favorite snacks in hand, hanging out with friends, anticipating entertaining commercials, and having fun even if the Eagles aren't playing. Nature lovers can learn about groundhogs at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge's annual Groundhog Day Family Festival. Families can take in the fresh air with a winter hike at Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education's Winterfest for Wildlife event. Or, make nature-inspired crafts at Briar Bush Nature Center's WinterFest.

After braving the outdoors, head inside for some fun at local museums. Brandywine River Museum offers its First Sundays for Families which features an interactive performance showcasing Indian culture, heritage, and tradition. The Barnes invites families to experience art during its PECO Free First Sundays while The Please Touch Museum welcomes families with children on the autism spectrum or learning delays to Play Without Boundaries, a free program to explore the museum with low lights and less noise. Kids who are interested how materials impact the world can participate in hands-on activities and watch demonstrations at Drexel University's free annual Philly Materials Science and Engineering Day.
