Long Island Kids' Activities June 16 and 17: Father's Day Weekend, and Strawberry, Barnyard Babies, and Green Festivals
This weekend is for the daddies, and there is lots to do with dear old Dad around town. There are all kinds of Father's Day celebrations, events, and activities (check out our Father's Day Activities guide for more things to do to celebrate Dad); a strawberry festival, a Baby Barnyard Animals Festival, and Port Jeff's Green Fest; a Princess Tea Party and a Pirate Festival; an ice cream social at the Cold Spring Fish Hatchery; and a concert on the lawn at the Planting Fields Arboretum. For Kids: Dragons and Damsels

Award-winning writer/producer/director Tony De Nonno will guide and inspire your children to create, draw, and write their very own illustrated storybook in 90 minutes. Tony De Nonno’s workshop is a nonjudgmental, exciting, and exhilarating process whereby children (of all academic levels and backgrounds) brainstorm, share their ideas, stand inside the shoes of another character from another time and place, and then independently create their very own original illustrated storybook.

Inspired by the museum's current exhibition, "Sculpture/Jim Dine/Pinocchio," children will explore the art of Jim Dine through his Pinocchio prints and sculpture and will celebrate the season by making kites embellished with silk-screen prints. Like Dine, children will turn everyday objects into works of art. A fun-filled family day of gallery tours, supervised art making and family photos taken with Dine's sculptures. Weather permitting, part of this event will take place outdoors on the museum grounds.
