As we roll into the last weekend in October, the family-friendly fall festivities continues across Long Island. While there's more than plenty for humans to choose from this weekend, it's also a weekend that's gone to the dogs. Choose from the Suffolk Barkfest, Paws for a Cause Halloween Charity Dog Walk & Contest, Spooktacular Howl’oween Pet Parade or Fall Dog Festival to let your pooch in on the pumpkin fun.And be sure to check out our Halloween Guide for more seasonal fun on Long Island.

Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns – Old Westbury. All-ages nighttime Halloween event that features 5,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns. Rain or shine. Offered through Nov. 2. Cost: $18-28.
Oktoberfest – Riverhead. At Garden of Eve. Featuring Long Island Craft Beer, pumpkin picking, farm tours, vendors, kiddie activities and more. Cost: $15 adults, children are free.
Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs – Port Jefferson. Live performance. Cost: $10.
Harbes Western Farm - Jamesport. Corn maze, pumpkin picking, live music, hay rides, bouncy houses, animals, roasted corn and other food, etc. Cost: Pay one price admission $6.95-$12.95 per person. A la carte option ($5 pony rides) available.
Otto the Ghost’s Animated Story– Westbury. At Hicks Nurseries. Cost: Free.
Messy Afternoons at LICM – Garden City. At the Long Island Children's Museum. Cost: Free with museum admission.
LEGO Building Contest & Exhibit – Stony Brook. At the Stony Brook Village Center. If you love building with LEGOs, here is your chance to show off your original creations and maybe win a prize. Create a piece on your own or in a group (no more than five members) and bring it for display through Sunday, Oct. 26. There will be a special Celebration on Oct. 26, where prizes will be awarded. Cost: $4/person.
Explorer Family Backpacks– Hempstead. At the Hofstra University Museum. Pick up a backpack and discover the beauty of the world's cultures through specific works displayed in the gallery, create your own keepsake artworks to bring home, for children ages 5-10. Cost: Free.

Willy Wonka Junior – East Islip. Live performance of Willy Wonka. Cost: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
Arts in the Plaza - Long Beach. Every Saturday in Kennedy Plaza. Arts, crafts, kiddie activities. Cost: Free.
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs- Port Jefferson. Live performance. Through the end of October. Cost: $10
Craft - New Hyde Park. Kids can create a free craft at the Lakeshore Learning Store. Cost: Free.
Science Saturdays - Riverhead. Play and explore at The Long Island Science Center. Cost: $5/person.
Grown Up & Me Yoga (Ages 3-5) – Bellmore. Ages 3-5 with caregiver. Cost: 15.
Halloween Parade and Trick Or Treating – Bellmore. Meet at the Bellmore Fire House on Pettit Ave and march down Bedford Ave. Merchants will have treats, goodies and giveaways. Cost: Free.
Suffolk Barkfest – Setauket. Pet costume parade and contest at the Holiday Inn. Cost: Free.
Trunk or Treat – Sayville. At Sayville Falls Mini Golf. Decorate your car to participate in this event. All participants will receive a free round of mini golf. Cost: Free.
Halloween Costume Bash – Wantagh. At Kidville. Open play, project, trick or treating, costume contest and more. Cost: $15 nonmembers, $10 members. Kids under age 1 are free.
Princess Tea Party – Rokonkoma. A tea party with Disney princesses at Ballet Long Island. Cost: $19 or two tickets for $34.
Trunk or Treat – Southampton. At the Southampton Recreation Center. Cost: Free.
Halloween Family Day – Melville. At the Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site. Halloween Family Day with Magic Bob, who performs a family illusion show. There will also be prizes for best costume, face painting, candy, and raffles. Registration required. Cost: $8/child.
Haunted Hatchery – Cold Spring Harbor. At the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium. Featuring flashlight sightings of black catfish that swim in the inky outdoor ponds, and pumpkin seed sunfish that live in the aquarium tanks. Refreshments are served. Kids in costumes receive an extra treat. Cost: Included with regular admission.

The Great Jack-o'-Lantern Spectacular Sail – North Babylon. Watch your carved pumpkin sail on Belmont Lake. Cost: Free.
Spooky Halloween Soiree – Islip. At the Suffolk County Environmental Center. Halloween fun at the (not so) spooky Scully Mansion. Explore the woods in the Spooky Scavenger Hunt, search for sweets in the giant spider web maze, make some spooky origami, build fairy houses and enjoy other frightfully fun games. Participants can also carve a jack-o-lantern to help decorate the finish line for the Owl Prowl 5k. $4 fee for pumpkin or bring your own. Cost: Members free, nonmembers $4.
Halloween Party at Safari Adventure – Riverhead. DJ, dancing, games, activities, cake and more at Safari Adventure. Cost: Regular admission for children plus $3 for adults.
The Great Pumpkin Glow – Merrick. At Merrick Community Nursery School Yard. More than 100 carved pumpkins on display. Children encouraged to come dressed in costume. Cost: $5 minimum donation.
Annual Ghostly Gala – Garden City. At the Long Island Children's Museum. Featuring a costume party, face painting, crafts, and a puppet show. Cost: $9/per person.
Spooky Fest – Rockville Centre. At Center For Science Teaching And Learning. Wooded paths, exhibits, and festivities on the preserve will be featured, with eerie lighting, special effects, and characters along the way. Everything is perfectly spooky and a little scary. Creatures of all kinds inhabit the woods, the strange and beautiful will draw you into the eerie paths. Cost: $10 for kids 8 years and under, $15 for ages 9 yrs and older.
Ghost Stories & Legends Of Fire Island – Fire Island Lighthouse. Listen to tales of eerie happenings along the Barrier Beach. Dress warmly; bring blankets and flashlights. Tower Tours are available from 4 pm – 6 pm for a fee. Cost: Free.
Sunday, October 26
Haunted Castle Halloween Party – Sands Point. At the Sands Point Preserve, attend in costume and celebrate the scariest holiday of all at the Sands Point Preserve. Walk the delightfully haunted castle rooms with ghosts big and small, witches and bats – and coffins in a graveyard! Spooky crafts and treats will be available. Cost: $20 per car / $10 with Annual Pass.
Rockville Centre Recreation Halloween Ragamuffin Parade and Party – Rockville Centre. Children of all ages and their families are invited to take part in the Annual Ragamuffin Parade, beginning at 2pm. The parade kicks off at Parking Lot #12, north side of Sunrise Highway, corner of Long Beach Road and proceeds to the Recreation Center, where ghosts and goblins are treated to fun, games and prizes. Costume awards are given to age group winners. In case of rain, the parade will be canceled and the party will begin at 3pm. Cost: $8/family.
Animal Extravaganza – Plainview. The Traveling Noahs Arch will be present with live animals, games and activities for children of all ages. Also able to participate in real Dog Training with Dogability. Cost: Free.
Paws for a Cause Halloween Charity Dog Walk & Contest - Northport Village. Walk, costumer contest, hay rides, petting zoo and more. Cost: Free.
Rock Hall Country Fair – Lawrence. At the Rock Hall Museum. Featuring a harvest market, crafts, farm animals, food, craft area, pumpkin patch, colonial historians, pony rides, and make your own scarecrows. Cost: Free (some fees for activities).
Magic Carpet Show – East Meadow. At Tricky Business. Music and magic show. Cost: $5/child.
Spooktacular Howl’oween Pet Parade – Glen Cove. Pet costume parade. Cost: Free.
Haunted Wailing Museum – Cold Spring Harbor. A "spooltacular" event for the whole family...featuring a Haunted Museum, over 20 arts and craft stations all with Halloween themes, games of chance for cool prizes, live animals and petting zoo, music, food, and more. Cost: $10
Boo! A Monster Musical - Patchogue. At the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. An interactive concert revival of Boo!. Cost: $10/ticket.
Fall Dog Festival – Old Westbury. At the Old Westbury Gardens. This event will feature exhibits by animal welfare organizations and rescue groups. There will also be a costume contest and parade for the pets at 3pm. Cost: $10 - General Admission for House & Gardens $8 - Over 62 $5 - Children 7-17 Free - Children 6 and under (members are free)
Family Gallery Talk & Art Workshop – Water Mill. Discover the museum on these art-filled Sundays for families. Cost: Adults $10, children under age 18 are free.
Sunday Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. Family-friendly nature program. Cost: Free.
