Performing Arts Camps in the Hartford Area
If your budding thespians or tiny dancers want to continue (or discover!) their stage presence through the summer, you'll be happy to know that a variety of summer camps in the Hartford area are geared toward performing arts. These venues provide a great way to channel creative energy and spend the summer doing what children enjoy. Check out this list of camps with a fine arts focus, including drama, dance, theater, and music.

Backbeat City
Offering four summer sessions from June through August, this
performing arts center challenges students to build confidence and community. Camp days (half days or full days) are filled with singing, dancing, acting, and leadership activities.

Filmmakers Ink
This summer film program provides the opportunity to explore the filmmaking creative process, including script writing, pre-production, acting and producing films, and nurtures the skills and confidence required to be part of the growing community of young filmmakers in Connecticut. Intensive Filmmaking/Acting, a five-day camp for ages 11-14, will run July 27-31. During the same timeframe, a special FX Filmmaking camp will be offered for ages 8-10.

The Hartt School
Known for its strong performing arts program, The Hartt School Community Division offers a wide array of engaging summer adventures for children interested in music, theater, or dance. Programs are geared toward all ages, such as First Steps in Music (ages 0-5), dance classes (ages 3 and up), theater for grades 4-8, and more. Programs run June through August.

Hartford Stage
Young actors ages 3-17 can join Hartford Stage teaching artists for full-day or half-day classes in one-, two-, or four-week programs scheduled in July and August. Disciplines include acting, dancing, creative movement, and theater games.

Poppins Children's Theatre
A summer musical theatre program will run from June 27-July 17. Children will experience the joys and challenges of theater while preparing for a production.
