Free and Fun Things to Do this Weekend in Connecticut: Fairs, Sunflowers & Great Shows! July 30-31st

There are a bunch of fantastic outdoor events this weekend. Lots of sunflowers and weekend festivals. You'll find our best bets listed below. Interested in going on a family kayaking expedition? ALL WEEKEND

This weekend kicks off Lyman Orchard's Sunflower Maze Opening Day. Go get lost in their 3 acre sunflower maze and then take a balloon ride to see the butterfly carved maze from above. (Middlefield)

The Valley Railroad Circus Train & Big Top Show begins with a ride on a vintage circus train and ends in an Acrobat Show in the "Big Top Tent". (Essex)

Take a hayride and enjoy the 4 acre sunflower field. Get a fresh bouquet and then a home-made ice cream cone after. Sunflowers for Wishes at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is playing at the Warner Theater in Torrington.

Kent's Annual Sidewalk Festival is on-going all weekend where there will be lots of great sales and activities for all ages.

The 44th Annual Village Fair Days New Milford is happening as well. There will be antiques, art, food....you know, all the good stuff.

SATURDAY July 30th

Sign the kids up to ride in the Junior CT Challenge Cycling Event while you ride in the Grown Up version.The Junior Challenge will take place on a specially designed course on the grass field at the Fairfield County Hunt Club. (Westport)

Join the crowds at the Taste of Shoreline in Guilford. Food, Live Bands, a Scavenger Hunt and a Car Show....what else do you need?

FREE Dance Party and Lessons with Earl Mosley's Dancers in Kent from 2-4pm. Get your hip hop and African dance moves goin'!

Pitch your tent, enjoy a barbeque dinner, and an evening of family fun at the Annual Summer Family Campout at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center in Stamford.

Head to the Beardsley Zoo and stay for a presentation of The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. (Bridgeport)

In Lyme check out the Old Lyme's Midsummer Festival where there will be art, music, kid's activities and farm animals!

It’s a one-day Ferrari-Fest, an extravaganza for both the casual Ferrari fan as well as the tifosi among you at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville.

SUNDAY July 31st

Summer Camp for the whole family! Spend the afternoon swimming, canoeing, playing outdoor games and taking part in traditional activities such as archery as well as newer attractions like the summer camp’s 20-foot climbing wall. Camp Mahackeno in Westport.

Festivities include a bucket brigade, midnight alarm, tug-of-war and food at the Fireman's Muster in Gaylordsville

It's WACky Family Day Goes Green at Westport Arts Center. Their popular family art program goes green this summer.

Stop by the Litchfield Historical Society anytime from 1:00 to 4:00 for fun, games, or to learn a new skill.

The Norfolk Chamber Music Family Festival on Sunday features performances, an ice-cream social and children’s games.
