Make Your Pizza and Eat It, Too

Square Peg offers these classes at several locations around the state, including Vernon, Newington, Enfield, and more. The Glastonbury Square Peg is the location my family went to. Here, the pizza making itself is done in the private room set in the back of the restaurant, which is great for little ones and parents who may want to have space from the rest of the guests.

A few minutes after sitting down, the chef himself came out to introduce himself and gave us a quick synopsis of how the event would work. He explained how each kid would come up one by one and make their own personal-sized pizzas. Each child took about five minutes or less to complete their pie and walk it over to the oven where it would be baked and then boxed.

Kids are given dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni and can make their own creations.

During the pizza-making, each child came up to the pizza-making station where they were given dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. After the pizza was created, the chef quickly guided us to the oven for the pizza to be baked. It was ready in no time—baked, boxed, and delivered back to us at our table in a matter of about ten minutes.

Once we got our pizza back, it was time to feast! Along with the pizza, each child also received a chocolate chip cookie—and to our surprise, each child was also given three dollars to use at the restaurant's arcade games! This was an especially nice treat for my kids. After we enjoyed our made-by-us pizza, my kids were able to play some arcade games and even won a couple of stuffed animals at the claw machine.

Kids even get to play arcade games and try to win prizes.

Other Events and Things To Do at Square Peg Pizzeria

There is so much to do at Square Peg Pizzeria aside from their free pizza-making classes. The restaurant makes its events known as soon as you walk in with its various flyers promoting upcoming events and activities. At the Glastonbury location, they host a weekly open mic night that would be great for anyone who loves to perform for a crowd. They also have live music each week and trivia nights that would be great for the whole family.

How You Can Become a Pizza Chef (Signing Up)

I am honestly still blown away that this event is completely free for families considering everything we took away from it. The restaurant says that the class is best for kids ages five and up, however, I did not find this class to be difficult for my two and three-year-olds at all.  My three-year-old needed some assistance with shaping the dough, but loved independently applying her sauce and toppings to her pizza. My two-year-old also loved making his own pizza with a little help from me throughout the process.

Square Peg PIzzeria is wide open and spacious enough that your kids and their noise won't cause a disruption.

Everything about the event was convenient, from the accessible parking just outside the restaurant in its own parking lot to the easy sign up and quick and easy pizza-making process.

Select the pizza class you want, and you'll be directed to Eventbrite to sign up. Keep in mind some of the events and locations fill up fast so much sure to be on the lookout for openings!
