More Fun Halloween Events in New Jersey
It's all Halloween all the time here in New Jersey and the events are flying fast and furious (on brooms, even.) Here are a few more haunted houses, a haunted firehouse, a few haunted towns, a scary aquarium and even a frightening cake contest. I'm terrified. Especially of the baked goods.

2nd Annual Mount Tabor Haunted Firehouse
Really, who can think up scarier stuff than volunteer firemen? The wonderful firefighters and auxiliary members of Mount Tabor will donate their time and talents with one goal: to make the haunted firehouse even spookier than it was in 2010. The holiday event, which raises funds for the department's lifesaving work, will run 6-11 pm on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29, and 4-10 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 30 and 31. Tickets are $6 "per body." There are three levels of scare: Family Fun House 6-7:30 pm (Rated "G"); Classic Haunted House 7:30-9:30 pm (Rated "PG") and Purgatory 9:30 pm - Close (Rated "PG-13")
Mad Science Halloween Event (Sparta)
Count Eggbert and his mad friends will give your kids a fun, gooey and pretty much scare-free Halloween event, and they get to make their own slime to take home. Saturday, October 29 from 7pm to 8pm. Ages 4 to 11. Pre-register at 729-3101x223.
Hoboken Ghost Tour
The Theater Company of Hoboken will be performing their annual Scary Stories out on the streets this year, with a Ghost Tour that covers various “haunted” locations in the Mile Square City. Stories include: The Wedding Couple, The Bad Closet Story, The Ghost of Pearl White, the story of St. Joseph's and the glowing eyes, and more. October 21 at 7pm, starting at the gazebo in Church Square Park, 4th and Park Streets. Tickets are $20 in advance / $25 at door, refreshments included.
State Scare (Belleville)
When you’ve got a Hollywood special effects artist designing a haunted house (Anthony Giordano), you’re in for some good zombie action. In fact, “Every time someone wets their pants, we high-five each other,” said Denise Cattaneo, who plays Fanny, the zombie Human Resources secretary in the haunt.
State Scare runs October 20-23, and 26-31, from 7 pm to midnight with a “Not So Scary Sunday Matinee” from 4-6pm on Sundays.
$30 For Rapid Processing Ticket (VIP), $18 for Adults, $15 for Children 12 and under ($8 for the Sunday matinee). Coupons are available at State Fair Superstore, next to State Scare, or by visiting http://www.statescare.com/Coupon.html.
Spooktacular Fun Fest (Dover)
Come and vote for your favorite spooky/yummy cake in the Spooktacular Cake Contest at The Community Children's Museum’s 2nd Annual Spooktacular Fun Fest. The Fest will also include a Costume competition, face painting, a pumpkin carving demo and a Monster Mash dance-off. October 22 from 12:30 to 4:30pm. $10/person. For more info, call 973-366-9060.
Paranormal Ghost Tours (Asbury Park)
Just in time for Halloween, take a 90-minute moonlit walk through Asbury Park filled with macabre tales of mystery and mayhem. We’re all about the Haunted Pub Tour, but you can also find discover ghouls on the boardwalk and the village green. Thursday and Friday evenings, $10/adults, $5/kids.
Jenkinson’s Ascareium (Pt. Pleasant Beach)
A creepy pack of pirates is coming to the Aquarium to search for their treasure. All ages are invited from 6 to 8pm, but from 8:30 to 9:30, even the fish will be scared. Fridays and Saturdays until Halloween. $6/person. Call 732-892-0600 for more info.
