The beach isn't just for swimming and sunbathing anymore: Soon you can add ice skating to your list of things to do down the Jersey Shore. It all starts Sunday, November 27, when Ice at the Pier opens at Pier Village in Long Branch, New Jersey.
The 50-foot by 80-foot ice rink will be located on Festival Plaza in Pier Village, giving skaters a view of the Atlantic Ocean while they twirl around. The grand-opening on Thanksgiving weekend will come just in time for the annual Long Branch Holiday Tree Lighting, a community tradition that includes a meet-and-greet with Santa, train rides, and holiday tunes played by Tim McLoone & The Shirleys.
The outdoor rink, made of real ice, will be open to the public Thursday through Sunday, weather dependent, through Presidents Day, Monday, February 20, 2017.
