Long Island Kids' Activities March 31 and April 1: Easter Egg Hunts, The Flying Model Expo, and Opening Day of Trout Season!

If the sun comes out this weekend, get out your Easter baskets, put the kids in the car, and drive just about anywhere on the Island to find an egg hunt, cuz they're everywhere this weekend. PartyRockers has also got an Easter-themed party for you. If egg hunting isn't your thing, it's the opening day of trout season, and the Cold Spring Fish Hatchery is offering free fishing-rod rentals to celebrate. Or go on an April Fool's Hike, or check out the Flying Model Expo at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Check out our calendar for even more weekend events. There's plenty to do out there this weekend. Celebrate Easter with the Long Island Ducks. Egg hunts will be broken down according to age groups. There will also be bouncy rides, arts-and-crafts activities, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, food and beverages, and other activities. Click here to preregister.
19th Annual Spring Egg Hunt

Free
Egg hunts will be held every 15 minutes beginning at 12:15pm. Children will hunt for eggs in three groups: ages 4 and under, ages 5-6, and ages 7-9. In addition to the hunt, there will be a petting zoo, temporary tattoos, pony rides, environmental crafts, a visit by the Easter Bunny, and more.

The whole family can help in making spring-themed ceramics projects.

7th Annual Flying Model Expo
The Cradle of Aviation Museum
Garden City 10am–5pm
Free with museum admission
The expo will feature some of the best model aircraft. All types, including electric, gas, radio-controlled, rubber-powered, gliders, helicopters and more will be on display throughout the museum. Experience indoor and outdoor flying (weather permitting).

Opening Day of Trout Season

Free with admission
Come celebrate with the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery on the first day of trout fishing season with a free fishing rod rental for the day. All other admission and fishing fees apply.
PartyRockers' Easter Celebration

$8 per child; $6 each additional sibling
Each child will make a craft and enjoy an egg hunt. Juice and snacks will be served while festive music plays in the background. Remember to bring your camera, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. And, of course, there will be a special visit from the Easter bunny! ** An Easter bunny–autographed personal photo card is available for a small additional fee.

Find out about these and more of Mother Nature’s puns and jokes on a special first-time-ever April Fools’ Day hike at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site (NHS) presented by naturalist Lois Lindberg. Can you separate the fakery from the facts? Get ready for some light-hearted fun on a naturalist’s irreverent tour on the grounds and nature trails of Sagamore Hill NHS. The nature walk will last approximately 1 ½ hours. Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear for a moderate walk.
