No sitter? No problem! Grab the kids and head over to one of the various places on Long Island that host family-friendly happy hours. Mom and dad can enjoy an early dinner, drink specials and fewer crowds before the dinner rush.

Located on the water, kids can participate in fishing on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm in the summer. Event includes fishing, food and fun--and parents watch dockside while enjoying the bar and grille. Bring your own poles and life jackets or rent them there. Registration is first come, first serve.

On Thursdays from June through August, families can safely walk along the village's Main Street to listen to live music, soak up sunset views and indulge in various street foods. Shops are open for business, but the street is closed to traffic.

Friday Night Promenade
Seventh Street, Garden City
On Fridays from mid-June to mid-September, families can traipse down the heart of Garden City Village. Enjoy live music, a family-friendly atmosphere and plenty of activities for the kids, including free balloon art and face painting. Pop into a restaurant or bar for drinks and apps.

Family Fun Nights
Main Street, Northport
On Tuesdays in August, Main Street is closed to vehicular traffic. Dine, enjoy music, shopping and more throughout Northport Village.
