Tiny You in Queens: Popular Sunnyside Kids' Boutique Opens New Long Island City Location
As a lifelong Queens resident with a toddler and a preschooler at home, Tiny You in Sunnyside has been my go-to children's boutique since I became a mom. Opened by a neighborhood family, the adorable shop specializes in clothing and toys made by local and independent designers, and offers occasional classes. In addition to the cute selection, I love going to Tiny You because it means I'm shopping locally and keeping my money in my community.
Tiny You has gotten so popular that owner Jill Callan has opened a second store in Long Island City, Queens. It's a really exciting addition to the area, which has lots of great things to do for families but not a lot of children's shops. My family and I recently visited the new store and were really impressed. At 700-square-feet, it is much larger than the Sunnyside original, and hosts a variety of classes and special events. Here's some of what you'll find at the brand-new Tiny You in Long Island City, Queens.

Just like the Sunnyside location, Tiny You in Long Island City sells products by independent and local designers, like the beautiful Hudson and Stella line of hair accessories and jewelry made by Queens mom Judy Yeh. There are also hand-printed tees featuring the Queensborough Bridge and other borough icons, plus clothing by high-quality brands like Mayoral, Sophie Catalou and Bit'z Kids. The shop itself is sleek and airy, with a lovely large glass windows that lets passers-by see the entire interior from the street.
Tiny You carries clothing for children ages newborn to 8 years, plus toys, games, socks and shoes, and accessories like reversible handmade hats, all-natural nail polish and temporary tattoos, bow ties and suspenders. There's even some gear like baby carriers, handmade hooded towels and lunchboxes. Callan says she plans to add diapers bags and jewelry for moms, too.
Callan was a children's clothing designer for 16 years prior to opening Tiny You, so she curates her selection with an expert eye and is always on the lookout for one-of-a-kind items. She also has a wide variety of fun boys' clothing, which is so hard to find. She's even in the process of co-creating a new boy's line that will include hand-printed tees and onesies, button-down shirts, bow ties, and vests and pants made from recycled men's suits.
Other pluses about Tiny You Long Island City: There's a restroom with a changing table, and an area for kids with a table and rug so they can sit and color or play with items from the toy bin while you shop. My daughter was having so much fun when we visited I had trouble getting her out of there. The store also hosts classes and special events like baby-wearing classes run by the former owner of Metro Minis. Drop-in sessions take place on Thursdays 1:30 to 3:30pm and every other Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Check the website for an up-to-date schedule and feel free to make class suggestions. Callan wants to give locals what they want.
Tiny You Long Island City is located at 10-50 Jackson Avenue near 50th Avenue and Tiny You Sunnyside is located at 46-21 Skillman Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets.
