It's summertime and the pickin' is easy: peach picking, that is! July and August are the months to go peach picking near DC because the fruit is ripe and ready to be enjoyed. Many farms in Virginia and Maryland also offer other fruits in the summer like berries, nectarines, and plums. Throw in some fun extras like petting zoos, playgrounds, and jumping pillows and you've got the perfect summer day at the farm for the whole family.

Great Country Farms

Bluemont, VA
This 400-acre working farm offers non-GMO produce grown using regenerative farming practices. In the summer, visit from late May through early June for strawberry picking, mid June for cherries, mid to late July for blackberries, and July and August for peaches. Fall is for apples and pumpkins. Kids can also enjoy the large farm-play area with play structures, a ninja obstacle course, jumping pillows, and more. READ MORE

Hollin Farms' pick-your-own-fruit roster includes plenty of berries, peaches, and more. In general, strawberries are available in May and June; raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries are up for grabs in late June and early July; and peaches can be picked in July and August. Head back in September and October to dig your own peanuts and potatoes! Marker-Miller Orchards offers a variety of pick-your-own fruits and vegetables. These include peaches, red raspberries, blackberries, and tomatoes in July and August and apples, pumpkins, and winter squash in September and October. Stribling Orchard is home to roughly 800 peach trees and 2,500 apple trees. Peaches are generally available starting in July, and apples can be picked from August through October. The farm also sells pumpkins in the fall.  READ MORE

Peach Picking Near DC in Maryland

Larriland Farm

Woodbine, MD
Harvest season at Larriland begins when the strawberry crop ripens in late May to early June and ends with the apple crop in early November. In between, families can harvest several types of berries throughout the summer, as well as over 15 varieties of peaches from mid July through mid September. While there is no admission fee, there is a required minimum purchase to visit the fields.  READ MORE

Head to Homestead Farm to pick your own berries and peaches during the summer. Tart cherry season typically starts in late June and lasts one to two weeks, blueberries can be picked for two to three weeks starting around mid June, and blackberry season usually goes from mid July through late August. This Baltimore County farm offers three varieties of pick-your-own berries: strawberries from mid May through mid June, blueberries from late June through mid July, and blackberries from mid July though mid August. Baugher's Orchard's general pick-your-own timeline is as follows: strawberries from May through June; cherries and peas in June; peaches, nectarines, and plums in July and August; apples from August through October; and pumpkins in October. Call the picking hotline at 410-857-0111 to check on availability.
