Happy Halloween to all of your favorite ghosts and goblins!  There’s only so much costume wearing and candy collecting one can do, right?  I’m sure there are some little people in your house that may beg to differ!  Prepare for the spookiest holiday of the year by listening to ghost stories and legends, making slime, Native American masks or listening to stories read under the planetarium sky.  There’s much to do in between that trick-or-treating.  We've got great options for you here, and check out our Halloween Guide for more awesome ideas. Ring in Halloween weekend AND be the envy of the kids in the neighborhood.  Children who attend this Garvies Point program will learn how to make Native American masks and homemade, colorful slime.  Now there’s an art-form they won’t soon forget!

In this hour long, special Halloween event, children and their parents listen to stories while images are projected on to the planetarium ceiling.  Each child receives a noise maker and will participate as the story comes to life.  Feel free to wear your costume!  Reservations are required.

Trick-or-Treat in the town!  Go from store to store to collect sweets at the 20th annual Halloween Festival in Stony Brook.  Not only are there treats to be had, try your hand at a bean bag toss and potato sack race.  Don’t forget the children’s costume parade led by Monster Merlin. This quaint village is worthy of a trip any time of year, but this weekend you have another great excuse to visit.

Meet not-so-scary critters, make creepy crafts, walk the Ghostly Gardens, and listen to spooky tales. The younger set 4-7 can try the Not So Spooky Trail and learn about noctural animals, and the older set will wander the trail to an Eerie Tale.  Along the way, the kids might even learns something about nocturnal animals and nature. Refreshments served. Bring a flashlight. Pre-Registration required.
