Long Island Kids' Activities August 25 and 26: Kidstock, Long Island Scottish and Italian Festivals, and Beach Blast

Summer may be winding down in terms of the number of days left on the calendar, but it's still in full effect on Long Island this weekend. The Island is celebrating with Kidstock at North Hempstead Beach Park, a Beach Blast at Overlook Beach for Town of Babylon residents, a Scottish Festival at Old Westbury Gardens, an Italian Festival in New Hyde Park, I Love America Night at Riverhead Raceway, and Turtle Hatch Day at the Cold Spring Fish Hatchery.

It's going to be a beautiful weekend, y'all; get out and enjoy it!

Turtle Hatch Day

Adults $6, children 3 to 12 and seniors over 65 $4, children 2 and under free        
Join us as we celebrate the hatching of our baby turtles. Professional staff will be on hand to answer questions. Refreshments & turtle crafts will be available.

Beach Blast
Overlook Beach

Free (for Town of Babylon residents with a Resident Parking Permit)     
Events will include relay contests, games, rides, and the annual Ice Cream Eating Contest. Music and face painting will also be available. The day will culminate with the 18th annual fireworks extravaganza, beginning at dusk. Parking is free to residents with recreation permits. Additional parking is available at Cedar Beach and Cedar Beach Marina for residents only with a 2012 recreation permit.

Discover the buzz about the honeybee hive. Who lives in the hive? Who does the work? How do bees find the flowers? Make a bee craft to take home! This is a Family Fun event! CSTL makes learning fun!

Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games

Special Games admissions: adults $15, two-day combo $25; seniors over 62 $12, two-day combo $20; children (ages 7 to 17) and members $7; children ages 6 and under free.            
The festival includes bagpipes, caber tossing, traditional highland games, Scottish music, Irish step dancing, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, and so much more! Highland games on Saturday only.

North Hempstead’s Second Annual Kidstock will be an open-air family festival featuring musical entertainment that kids and parents can enjoy together. Join special guest MC, Roscoe Orman (“Gordon" of Sesame Street) for a blend of folk, rock, kid pop, and kindie rock from such special guests as Bari Koral Family Rock Band, Dan Zanes, and local favorites Strummin' and Drummin'.
