Things to Do With Kids This Weekend in Westchester: Block Party, Baseball Card Expo, Concerts, Fossils & More, August 17 & 18
These gorgeous (though fall-like) temperatures are a reminder that we've only got a few more weeks before back to school madness begins. Even so, there's lots of summer fun still to be had in Westchester, both indoors and out!
If you're looking for a good show, Oliver! and Into the Woods are playing this weekend. The East Coast National Baseball Card Show is going on now through Sunday, for all you baseball fans. On Friday, you can check out Mamaroneck Shares Summer Block Party, which we mentioned earlier this summer, or check out Annie at Hudson River Museum's new amphitheater. Saturday, head to Hudson Highland's Nature Museum for Fascinating Fossils. On Sunday, walk the gangplank to the Science Barge in Yonkers for their Art & Science series or check out a 50's doo-wop concert in Yorktown. And don't forget, the New York Renaissance Faire continues this weekend.

The East Coast National Baseball Card Show - White Plains
If your kids is into baseball, head to Westchester County Center for the East Coast National Baseball Card Show, running now through Sunday. Sports fans of all ages can delight in sports memorabilia, collectibles, and autograph signings. Free pack of cards to every child under 12 years old. $8 per day, Free for kids under 12.
Oliver! at Westchester Broadway Theatre - Elmsford
Enjoy dinner and a show as Westchester Broadway Theatre presents Oliver! Charles Dickens' classic, Oliver Twist, comes to life with a Tony Award winning score and colorful characters. Prices include dinner and a show. $54 and up.
Into the Woods - White Plains
The White Plains Performing Arts Center's Summer Conservatory theater group will be performing Into the Woods, Jr. this Friday and Saturday. See classic characters from the famed Brothers Grimm stories revamped into a musical comedy that spins familiar characters into a whole new tale. $15 for adults, $10 for high school and under.

Friday Night Film: Annie - Yonkers
Hudson River Museum continues their weekly movies series in August with the classic tale of Annie. Enjoy this classic under the starts in the Museum's new amphitheater. Movie starts at 8pm, all ages welcome. FREE
Mamaroneck Shares Summer Block Party - Mamaroneck
The party continues at the 3rd installment of Mamaroneck Share's summer block party series. Help raise money for local charities while supporting local businesses. Enjoy bounce houses, face painting, live music and more. FREE

Fascinating Fossils - Cornwall
Hudson Highland Nature Museum invites budding paleontologists to view an extensive collection of fossils and learn about the paleo history of New York, how fossils are formed, what scientists learn from them and how to collect them. Make a fossil replica to take home. $7 for adults; $5 for kids.
August Alternative Music Saturdays: The Sweetback Sisters - Yonkers
Hudson River Museum continues its alternative music series with The Sweetback Sisters, a Brooklyn based, all girl, self described “renegade retro band," whose members play fiddle, guitar, upright bass and percussion. All ages welcome. FREE

Art & Science Sundays: Grow & Go Take-Home Gardens & Blue Crab Blitz - Yonkers
Head to the Science Barge in Yonkers for Art & Science Sundays. This Sunday, build hydroponic mini-greenhouses to tend at home and harvest for tasty, fresh salad greens then head to the gangplank where Captain Bob will lead the popular blue crab activities—pulling up the traps, examining the creatures within, and letting them swim away. $5 suggested donation.
The Capris: Summer Concert Series - Yorktown Heights
Take the kids to experience music from the doo-wop 50's era and enjoy classics like “There’s A Moon Out Tonight” and many more. FREE
Beyond Westchester
Head to the New York Botanical Gardens for their Global Gardens Summer Harvest Celebration. Kids can get their hands dirty while exploring the five global gardens, meeting the Global Gardeners, making cultural crafts and more.
Check out the Milford Oyster Festival in Connecticut. In addition to some 20,000 oysters (!), enjoy amusement rides, a canoe and kayak race, a car show and lots more family fun activities.
