Mostly Free & Fun Things to Do with Westchester Kids: Fall Crafts, Festivals, Pow Wow & More, Sept. 21 & 22
This weekend we officially welcome fall and there are lots of great seasonal events to enjoy. Westchester has something to satisfy every taste, from history buff to horse fanatic, foodie to crafty. Events happening all weekend include Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst, the Peekskill Rotary Horse Show and Country Fair and the FDR Pow Wow. The New York Renaissance Faire and Bear Mountain Oktoberfest continue this weekend as well.
On Saturday head to Fieldhome's Annual Fall Festival or check out the Armonk Cider and Donut Festival. Sunday is the Southern Westchester Food and Wine Festival and the Washington-Rochambeau Regatta. Also on Sunday, take to the water with Mommy Poppins for the NY Harbor Ecology & Science Cruise With Mommy Poppins & Manhattan By Sail. Tickets are still available but selling fast!

Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst – Tarrytown
Celebrate the season all weekend long on the beautiful Hudson River with over 275 artists and crafts people as well as live music and children’s activities throughout the day. $10 for adults; $4 ages 6-16. 5 and under FREE
Peekskill Rotary Annual Horse Show and Country Fair - Peekskill
This is the 43rd Horse Show from the Peekskill Rotary which features both English and Western riding contests throughout the day. Other attractions include pony and hay rides, bounce rides, a country fair and a craft market. FREE
FDR Pow Wow – Yorktown Heights
This full service Native American Pow Wow consists of over 500 artists and performers from across the Americas with over 40 vendors selling crafts, jewelry and food. Pony rides and tipi raising will sure grab the kids’ attention. $14 for adults; $8 for kids 6-12; 5 and under FREE
SATURDAY
Fieldhome’s Annual Fall Festival – Cortlandt Manor
A special Kids’ Zone features inflatable rides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, games and prizes. A food drive will also be held--a great way to teach the kids about giving back to the community. All proceeds benefit Yorktown Community Help, Inc. FREE
Armonk Cider and Donut Festival – Armonk
Enjoy live music, apple printing, art projects, cider wine tasting, donuts and cider at Wampus Park. FREE
Village of Ossining Bicentennial Harborfest - Ossining
This is a day long festival for the whole family. Enjoy heritage ships, deck tours and boat rides, fireworks, live music, climbing games and more. All ages welcome. FREE
SUNDAY
Washington-Rochambeau Regatta – Ossining
From shoreline parks, enjoy the sight of the tall ship Clearwater and a host of other boats as they commemorate the Crossing of the Hudson in a Regatta from Ossining to Haverstraw. Celebrations which include Revolutionary war reenactments continue on land. FREE
Southern Westchester Food and Wine Festival – Scarsdale
Join Southern Westchester’s top restaurants with gourmet food samplings and wine tastings. A special kids’ corner will feature games, events, and food specifically tailored for children. FREE admission but tickets must be purchased for sampling.
BEYOND WESTCHESTER
On Saturday the Newington Waterfall Festival is happening in Connecticut and the Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the New York Botanical Gardens opens for the season.
Tickets are still available to join the Mommy Poppins gang on Sunday for the NY Harbor Ecology & Science Cruise With Mommy Poppins & Manhattan By Sail.
