More snow and time spent indoors this week is all the more reason to get up and out. Learn about maple sugaring at Hoyt Farm in Commack or see the classic tale, The Wizard of Oz, come to life on stage in Bellmore. Families can also celebrate Chinese New Year in Roslyn or a puppet show in Sag Harbor.

All Weekend

Where I Live - Garden City. A special traveling theater company talking about the places we inhabit in a wildly imaginative production. In English and French. Cost: $9/with museum admission, $12/theater only.

It's All in the Angles - Port Jefferson. At the Maritime Explorium, kids can attempt to built a rooftop capable of withstanding a winter storm. Cost: $5/person.

Long Island Pet Expo - Brentwood. High-flying dogs, cats doing agility, exotic animals, rain forest reptile show, petting zoo, vendors, adoptable pets and many new additional features. Pet owners can bring their leashed pets with them. Cost: $12 adult, $5 ages ages 4-12, free 3 and under.

Weekend Workshop - Sayville. Each weekend a dedicated instructor at Mini Monet will lead you in a craft/creation. Cost: $15.

The Snow Queen - Northport. Live performance at the Engeman Theatre. Runs every Saturday and Sunday through March 8.Cost: $15/ticket.

Seal Cruise - Freeport. Hop aboard the Captain Lou in Freeport, hosted by the Riverhead Foundation to search for harbor seals and other mammal life. Runs through April 12. Cost: $19-$26.

Messy Afternoons at LICM – Garden City. At the Long Island Children’s Museum, all weekend long. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Explorer Family Backpacks – Uniondale. Pick up a backpack and explore the world through this Hofstra University gallery. Cost: Free.

Saturday, March 7

Breakfast With Elsa & Olaf - Smithtown. Pictures, bagels, yogurt, face painting, tattoos and crafts at Yougurtini. Cost: $25/child.

Mommy & Me Paint Class - Bellmore. At As You Wish, mommy and child can paint a peacock on a canvas. Includes games, pizza and juice.  Cost: $39/couple.

Drop Off Paint Class - Bellmore. At As You Wish, children ages 5 and older can do an optional drop off canvas painting class that includes pizza, juice and party games. Cost: $29.

Pinkaliscious: The Musical - Sayville. At CM Performing Arts Center, enjoy this live performance. Through March 14. Cost: $12+. 

The Wizard of Oz - Bellmore. Live production at The Showplace. Runs through March 29. Cost: Tickets are $10.

Three Little Pigs - Sag Harbor. Puppet show about the classic tale at Goat on a Boat Puppet Theare. Cost: $12/everyone, $8 child.

Science Saturday at the Long Island Science Center – Riverhead. Enjoy a day at the Long Island Science Center. Cost: $5/person.

Sunday, March 8

Cinema for Kids: Song of the Sea - Huntington. At Cinema Arts Centre, kids can watch a free movie about the Irish legend of the Selkies. Cost: Free for kids ages 12 and under. 

Chinese New Year - Roslyn. At the Nassau County Museum of Art, families can celebrate Chinese New Year. Cost: Free with museum admission. 

Maple Sugaring - Commack. There will be a demonstration of both Native American and Colonial maple sugaring at Hoyt Farm. Cost: $3/person, $8/family.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Cost: Free.

Lego Club - Bridgehampton. Enjoy two hours of Lego fun every Sunday at the Children's Museum of the East End. Cost: $10/admission.

Sunday Kids Club - East Hampton. Drop off kids for a 9am-12pm kids camp at Hampton Kids. Cost: $30-40.
