Weekend Fun for Chicago Kids: Family-Friendly Shows and Music, Plus Easter Bunny Action
It's the closing weekend of March, and this weekend theater doors are opening all over town. The Chicago Children's Theater performs The Watsons Go to Birmingham — 1963 based on the acclaimed children's book, the Filament Theater kicks off The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, another play based on a kids' best-seller, and Anastasia: The Musical, based on the animated film, opened this week.
Once you're done being dazzled by all the kid-friendly theater in Chicago, this weekend is a musical feast for the ears, too. On Saturday, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performs a concert just for kids, Flash Back, Flash Forward. The Promontory hosts its regular FREE family dance party Chic-A-Go-Go, and kids can explore Chicago's rich blues legacy at the Blues Family Jam at the Chicago History Museum.
Meanwhile, the Easter Bunny gets a workout this weekend at the Bunny Run and Hop in Elmhurst on Saturday and the Hello Spring Skate on Sunday in Oak Lawn. Fortunately there's also a special Brunch with the Easter Bunny in Palos Park to fuel him up.
