Happy Mother's Day From Mommy Poppins' Newest Mom-in-Chief

5/10/15 - By Ravelle Worthington

Dear Mommy Poppins Community,

As busy parents you may not give too much thought to the people working behind the scenes here at Mommy Poppins. You’re popping in, planning your day or finding an awesome summer camp, then going about your business. If you haven’t been reading for too long, you may think there’s some big corporation with, like, an office full of mombots who run the site. Actually, we’re a bunch of local moms who work from our homes in between running around with our own kids. Veteran readers know our Founder, Anna, our Events Editor, Stephanie, and our longtime NYC Editor, Raven, and recognize the pictures of them and their kids on the site.

Recently, Raven decided to step back a little bit, and I came on as the new NYC Editor (you may have seen my byline in the This Week articles of late). I’ve been settling in and learning my way around, and I thought it was time to introduce myself and say hello.

A little bit about me: I’ve lived in NYC and its surrounding suburbs since age six. The allure of city living is undeniable, from its plethora of restaurants that stay open until the early hours of the morning, to the parks and museums filled with culture and history.

Of course, my whole relationship with NYC turned upside down when I recently had my first baby. Working with Mommy Poppins gives me the opportunity to combine my three loves: being a mom, NYC and writing. I’m excited to embark on this journey of motherhood, and share the amazing and unique opportunities to be found in NYC with other moms like me. As the new editor, I will be working closely with Stephanie, Anna, Raven and our veteran writers to continue bringing you the most authoritative resource for everything that’s important to NYC parents. Over the past few weeks, we have also added several new writers to our team to help us cover more parts of the city, while offering new voices and experiences. I’m excited to be part of this community, and share thoughts and ideas about parenting here in NYC.

I'd love to hear more from you, our readers. Drop us a line here in the comments or on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram when you come across a post that resonates with you—whether it's an experience you've also shared, one that you want to try, or one you have questions about. I can't wait to hear from you as we travel down this amazing road of parenthood together!
