Paralyzed from turkey and stuffing? Well, drag yourself off that couch, because we have more holidays on the horizon and a weekend full of pre-Christmas-and-Hanukkah-and-Kwanzaa fun. Usher in the season with light shows, an enchanted forest hike, a sandbox scavenger hunt, a snack with Santa and a brand-new family health and fitness exhibit. Rock and Mineral Weekend (Morristown)

Visit the mineral, gem and fossil displays at the Morris Museum, where kids can enjoy a sandbox scavenger hunt,  a ‘mineral magic’ show and learn all about geology.  Can you dig it?  Members of the Morris Museum Mineralogical Society will be on hand to identify your mystery rocks and minerals.  November 25, 12 pm – 3 pm.  FREE with museum admission. $7 children, $10 adults.  Call 973-971-3718 for more information.

Polar Express Screening (Jersey City)

Looking for a way to avoid the Black Friday madness?  Spend the day at Liberty Science Center and get in the holiday spirit by watching The Polar Express in the IMAX Dome Theater.  While you're at LSC, be sure to check out the newest exhibit Math Midway. Turtle Back Zoo Holiday Lights Spectacular (West Orange)

As we mentioned in our Black Friday post, Turtle Back Zoo is brightening things up for the holiday season with over 100,00 bulbs of lights and a menagerie of animated displays.  This weekend, bring the family to enjoy the zoo and the Holiday Lights Spectacular while helping out a worthy cause; please bring an unwrapped toy or a nonperishable food item to be donated to Toys for Tots and the NJ Community Food Bank.  November 25-27, 5:00-9:00 pm.  FREE with admission.  Call 973-731-5800 for more information.

Santa Arrives at Imagine That! (Florham Park)

Enchanted Forest Hike (Mountainside)

Become one with nature: explore the northwest area of the Watchung Reservation and discover the history of this enchanting forest. Lights On! Winterlight Weekend (Hamilton)

Walk off the Thanksgiving treats by taking a stroll at the Grounds For Sculpture, and enjoy the paths, trees and buildings as they glow with thousands of lights. Take the family on a horse-drawn wagon ride on Saturday to take in the holiday cheer with style. Decorate holiday cookies or participate in a Graham Cracker House Workshop (material fees). Generation Fit Family Fun Festival (Newark)

Just in time for the holidays, Newark Museum opens a new health & fitness exhibit. Strolling Holiday Entertainment  (Princeton)

Get into the holiday spirit this weekend and enjoy festive strolling musicians, carolers and Santa at Palmer Square in Princeton on November 26, 12- 2pm. Listen to Nassau Brass from noon-2pm on the Green on November 27, and get your photo taken with Santa as he strolls around the Square from 1-3pm. Holiday Light Show (Yardley, PA)

Shady Brook Farm is kicing off the holiday season by illuminating acres of farmland for their Holiday Light Show. Enjoy lighted displays with familiar characters; drive through in your own car or enjoy the show on a hayride (starting November 26th). Kids can visit Santa's Village where they can share their Christmas wishes and have their picture taken.
