Weekend Fun for LI Kids: Heckscher Museum Anniversary, Big Apple Circus July 11-12
This weekend, visit the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington as it celebrates its 95th anniversary with free admission and various events, including a selfie booth, caricatures and Lego artist.
Then on Sunday, Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay opens their new Sensory Garden for children, who can touch, taste and smell the surroundings. Afterwards, enjoy a scoop of homemade ice cream, compliments of ingredients gathered from the on-premise garden.

Funny Man Show - Lloyd Harbor. At Caumsett State Park, families can watch a comedic clown perform. Free.
Rockville Centre Fireworks - Rockville Centre. A free concert and fireworks show at dark at Mill River Park. Free.
Concert in the Park - East Islip. At Heckscher State Park, a Salute to Our Heroes concert will be performed, followed by Grucci fireworks. Free.
Cinderella Kids - Oakdale. At CM Performing Arts, this is a live performance.
Movies on the Beach - Long Beach. At dusk at Lafayette Beach, enjoy a movie. Bring your own chair or blanket. Free.
Mommy & Me Painting Class - Bellmore. At As You Wish, a parent and child can work on a canvas painting together. Includes supplies, bagels and juice.
Sensitive Safari - Riverhead. At Safari Adventure, children ages 1-12 with special needs can enjoy an hour of play. All are welcome to stay after, when the play place is open to the general public.
Design a Dress - Bridgehampton. At the Children's Museum of the East End, museum-goers can take a workshop to design a dress.
Science Saturdays - Riverhead. At the Long Island Science Center, there's a different science theme each week. Hands on discovery and play time.
Shark Family Night - Sag Harbor. At the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum enjoy shark fun and a pirate themed BBQ.

Sensory Garden Sundays - Oyster Bay. At Planting Fields Arboretum, children will have the opportunity to see, taste, touch, smell and listen to the wonders of the sensory garden. Free.
Long Island Live Steamers - Brookhaven. Ride on small scale trains through the woods.
Summer Sundays - Brookhaven. At Brookhaven National Lab, tour the world-class facilities, attend an array of dynamic science talks, and participate in special activities each week on Sundays in the summer. Free.
Tails & Tales - Seaford. At Tackapausha Preserve, kids can learn about cottontail rabbits.
Polo in the Park - Bethpage. Take in a polo match and some family fun at Bethpage State Park.
Sunday Kids Clubs - East Hampton. Visit Hampton Kids for a mini camp on Sundays. Snacks, arts, lunch, games and bouncy houses.
Family Sundays at the Museum- Roslyn. Families can attend a day of festivities and activities at the Nassau County Museum of Art.
Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Free
