Kids Flix Mix 2 & The Painting - Ethan Appelbaum-Schwartz's Review

Reviewer Ethan Appelbaum-Schwartz is 9 years old and a student at Marquez Charter School.

Kids Flix Mix 2 is a collection of shorts, of which Ethan has reviewed several:

Snack Attack
It was very funny. It was about two people fighting for a snack. The setting is at a train station. It is appropriate for all ages. I liked it because it was full of suspense and mystery.

Paper Touch
It was a song made out of objects. I did not really like it, but it was still cool. It was not animated. You can say the people who made it were very talented.

The Storyteller
It was about a grandpa who forgets how to tell a story that he always tells. It was sad, sweet, and cute. The story was about a man who did not catch many fish so someone gave him a spell to make him catch more fish. I liked it because it was very suspenseful - because there are fisherman, spies, and fish!

Grandmother
There are some scenes in this movie that could scare children under 5 years old. It is about a kid that has a very active imagination who visits her grandma’s house and has very scary nightmares, like her grandmother turning into a tree. She wakes up and finds her grandmother sitting on a rocking chair. It was a really good movie, and I recommend for you to watch it!

The Painting
It was really cool, sad, and I liked it. It was about pictures from paintings that are alive, and they are trying to find their painter. I would recommend children 6 and over to watch this movie. It is like Romeo and Juliet at first, but it gets different. There are some slavery-like people in the painting that are completely done and are called “all-dones,” and the people that are almost done but not done are called “halfies,” and the mistakes on the painting are called “sketchies.” The “all-dones” are treated like they are royal and “halfies” and “sketchies” are like slaves.
