When it comes to welcoming a new bundle of joy in NYC, it's no secret that a little one needs tons of gear, but a new initiative is set to put infant-supply-stocked NYC Baby Boxes in the hands of new parents at some local hospitals.

Packed with essentials like diapers, wipes, clothes, and even a "Made in NYC" onesie, NYC Baby Boxes will be distributed to newborns at four NYC Health + Hospitals beginning later this year.
The NYC Baby Boxes were first announced in Mayor Eric Adams' State of the City address in January and are produced in partnership with the United Way of New York City. Four NYC Health + Hospitals locations—Jacobi and Lincoln in the Bronx, Elmhurst in Queens, and Kings County in Brooklyn—will distribute the boxes to all new parents when the program rolls out later this year. These hospitals are the busiest labor and delivery units in the Health + Hospitals system, accounting for more than 7,000 births annually.
An initial investment of $2.6 million has been committed to the program by the Adams' administration as part of its pledge to make NYC the best place to raise a family.
In addition to essentials for those early days with an infant, each NYC Baby Box will include a title from the United Way's Books from Birth program.
