A great way to boost babies' motor and social skills while making some new friends yourself is by enrolling in various baby classes. From stroller hikes to mud pie making, Fairfield County offers no shortage of Mommy and Me classes. Pack up the diaper bag, grab a latte, and sign up for a session or two: These mommy and me classes are designed for new Fairfield County moms (and dads, and other caregivers, too) with their babies and toddlers.

Mommy and Me Classes near Fairfield

1. Ole Soccer — Monroe, Fairfield

Got a future Pele in your family? Ole Soccer offers a class for little ones as young as 18 months (along with a caregiver). Ole is the leading soccer facility in Fairfield County with locations in Fairfield and Monroe. Parent/child classes are offered at both locations, and Ole offers even the youngest soccer stars the opportunity to work on their balancing, coordination, agility, and ball-handling skills. These mommy and me classes are 30 minutes long.

2. Children of the Sound — Norwalk/Branford

Using "gentle and patient encouragement" Children of the Sound offers private, semi-private, and parent-tot swim classes for children ages 6 months through 3 years. The classes focus on water safety and comfort, and are offered most weekday mornings in both locations.

3. Yogabilitation — Fairfield

Fairfield’s Yogabilitation offers kids' yoga classes as a component of its comprehensive physical therapy offerings. Parent and baby classes are 6-week sessions. 

4. Connecticut Dance Center — Stamford

This recently-expanded studio welcomes students of all ages and abilities, beginning with parent-and-child classes—a great option if you're nostalgic about your own dance class days.

5. Mommy & Me Dance and Fun — Fairfield

Children 18 months to 3 years will enjoy this creative dance program with an Irish flair. Meghan Lenihan from the Lenihan School of Irish Dance will lead the class with songs, dance, movement, and a cool down song. Runs on Tuesday mornings. 

6. Mommy Barre — Online

Using a mix of ballet and pilates, moms will wear their babies and spend time rebuilding abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. No previous dance experience is required. There is also time for moms to talk and get to know one another. 

7. FIT4MOM — Various Locations/Online

FIT4MOM is the country's largest fitness program for moms offering pre- and post-natal fitness classes for every stage of motherhood. Programs are offered locally from lower Fairfield County to Jennings Beach to the Fieldhouse at Sportsplex. Classes for mom and baby include Stroller 360, Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and Fit4Baby. All classes are also offered virtually.

8. Vasi's Gymnastics — Newtown

Bring your 18 month to 3 year old child to Vasi's where they can learn gymnastics and terminology. During the Mom and Tot class, children will grow in their physical confidence as they learn new skills and independence. Children ages 3 and up are requested to wear masks.

Mommy and Me Language Classes

9. Chinese Language School of CT — Stamford, Greenwich

Returning to in-person programming in the Fall, CLSC is the only not-for-profit educational institution and accredited by AdvancED, an accreditation organization that approves private schools' curriculums, allowing CLSC students to matriculate into upper level Chinese classes in public or private schools. CLSC starts language classes for children ages 18 months (Chopstix Toddler) as well as up to age 3 (Chopstix I). Parents are encouraged to learn along with their children.

10. Canta Y Baila Conmigo — Greenwich

Take a journey into the Spanish language and its cultures through the magical world of music. You and your child will be transported as you sing, dance, and play along to the irresistible sounds and rhythms of Spanish-speaking countries. Designed for beginners and native speakers alike, students experience a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally in every 8-week session.

11. German School of Connecticut — Stamford

You and your little learners will learn not only the language, but all about the German culture, holidays, songs, and traditions. Children 18 months and up are invited to attend Flummis where they will play and have structured circle time with one another. 

12. Franc-o-Fun — Ridgefield

The best time for a child to learn a second language is between birth and 6 years old. Franc-o-Fun offers a class for children 18-36 months called "Maman et Bebe Ourson." In this gentle class, children will be exposed to French through rhyme, songs, music, and playful puppetry. Instructors are either native speakers of the language, or have a degree in French and are well versed in the culture as well.

13. Music Together — Multiple Locations/Online

Undoubtedly one of the most well known national music programs for young children, Music Together offers classes at more than 3,000 locations in 40 countries. Each week, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, big kids—and the grownups who love them—gather together to make music as a community. Music Together classes are help indoors, outdoors, and online. Choose from many locations including Greenwich, New Canaan, Westport, and Stamford. 

14. Giggling Pig — Shelton, Bethel

Mommy and Me classes will be coming back to Giggling Pig's two locations this fall with a more traditional story-book themed class. Each class will be based on a popular piece of children's literature and will include a craft. The studio also offers fun free-play areas for kids with puzzles, sensory bins, and even glitter and paints. Children are free to play or sit in class during a session. 

15. Music for Children — Westport/Norwalk

A longtime highly-respected music program, Music for Children offers a multi-sensory, age-appropriate curriculum that will have your children reading music with their eyes, ears, and entire body. There are many mommy and me music class offerings at Music for Children, including Rock-A-Bye Baby (newborn to walking), infant/toddlers, and threes. All classes have live singing, ukulele, piano, and guitar. 

16. Hartbeeps — Westport

The award-winning multi-sensory music classes from UK perfect for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers have local classes in lower Fairfield County for newborns to age 4. Hartbeeps classes are full of props, dress up, drama, music, singing, imaginative play, and magic sprinkles. Classes are gentle, fun, and visually stimulating. Choose from two classes: Baby Bells (newborn to sitting) or Happy House (toddler and infant). 

Parenting Mommy and Me Classes

17. Tender Beginnings — Greenwich/Online

Greenwich Hospital’s “Tender Beginnings” pregnancy and parenting programs are a wonderful way for couples and families to prepare for pregnancy, labor, delivery, and newborn baby care. Class choices range from childbirth preparation to breastfeeding. All courses for mothers, fathers/partners, siblings, and grandparents are taught by registered nurses from the maternal/child unit, and include support groups for parents with infants, toddlers, older children, and teens. Classes are available in person and online.

18. Tinkergarten — Multiple locations/Online

Tinkergarten provides high-quality early childhood learning in the healthiest classroom of all—the outdoors. Classes are now offered to children ages 2-8 in two ways: in parks and open spaces all over Fairfield County, and from home where leaders meet with your child for 30-minute classes online and then encourage children to explore the outside during the week. Classes are led by trained community leaders in multiple local locations.
