Lansdowne Resort Activities and Amenities
Group Activities at Lansdowne Resort
Self-care doesn’t always come easily to moms, so Lansdowne’s focus on wellness is sure to be a real treat. Not only will you find microgreens growing at the on-site grab-and-go market, water refilling stations in the hallways, respiratory detox supplements in each room, and green smoothies at the breakfast buffet, you’ll be surrounded by activities that put fun and recreation front and center.
Fitness center: Lansdowne’s state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center is the largest gym my friend or I had ever seen at a resort, and it’s the perfect place to get in a workout without little ones pulling at your legs. The primary room is decked out with a variety of cardio and strength machines, and there are three separate rooms with free weights and space for daily group classes. Catch a Barre Fusion class, invite your crew to Sunrise Yoga and Meditation, or sign up for a session with a personal trainer.
Pools and cabanas: All year round, Lansdowne guests can enjoy a heated indoor lap pool and an accompanying hot tub. When the summer sun comes out, the resort boasts an outdoor aquatic center with three pools, a casual poolside eatery, and private cabanas available for rent.
Tennis and pickleball: Two lighted tennis courts and three pickleball courts are open daily. You can call ahead to reserve court time for your group, or book a private group lesson to brush up on your game.
Hiking, biking, running, and walking: A segment of the beautiful 710-mile Potomac Heritage Trail runs right through the resort, giving guests a perfect place to hike, run, walk, or even bike. Cruiser bikes are available to guests at no charge.
Lansdowne Resort Golf
If you’re a golf girl, you may already know that The Golf Club at Lansdowne is considered one of the most prestigious private golf clubs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Whether you and your friends want to learn to play or simply hone your skills, Lansdowne offers private and group instruction.
A fifth room in the resort's fitness center is also home to an advanced biomechanics system that captures golfers' every motion, then analyzes their swing to determine strengths and weaknesses.
Spa Minérale offers everything from massages and salon service to a jacuzzi and sauna.
Spa Minérale at Lansdowne Resort
Of course, we can't talk about wellness without talking about the heavenly on-site spa, Spa Minérale. This, I would say, is the primary reason to book your next moms' getaway at Lansdowne. My travel buddy and I have been to many a spa, and we agreed that our 80-minute Classic Ageless Facials were truly the best we’d ever had. From the jade stone face massage to the warming hand treatment, we were glowing both inside and out.
Beyond the treatments, the entire spa experience was fantastic. We were greeted by a friendly host and a warm fireplace, then invited to slip into plush robes and slippers. While waiting for our treatments, we enjoyed a serene Jacuzzi, a steam room, and a sauna. And, afterwards, we relaxed in the peaceful lounge and enjoyed complimentary trail mix and lemon water. Overall, we spent nearly three hours at the spa, but could have easily spent the entire day there.
In addition to facials, the spa offers a variety of treatments, including massages, acupuncture, cupping and other bodywork, exfoliation, and body wraps. There are also salon services, like manicures, pedicures, and haircuts and styling.
Lansdowne offers a variety of guestrooms and suites, all with deluxe amenities.
Lansdowne Resort Accommodations
Thoughtfully designed with deluxe amenities and gorgeous views, there are a number of guestrooms and suites to choose from at Lansdowne Resort and Spa, many of which can be combined or divided to accommodate groups. We were lucky enough to stay in a corner Deluxe Double room, which was huge, with large panoramic windows that brought in tons of light and a balcony overlooking the beautiful Potomac River Valley.
The beds were super comfy, and the 55-inch flat-screen TV with Chromecast was perfect for catching up on Netflix in the evening (which was enough to make our tired mom hearts very happy).
In addition to deluxe guestrooms, the AAA Four Diamond-rated resort also has a variety of suites that boast up to 1,100 square feet of space. These suites feature private bedrooms, footed tubs, wet bars, and more, and are a perfect option for an extra-special girls’ weekend.
Dining at Lansdowne Resort
There are three year-round restaurants at Lansdowne Resort—the laid-back Coton & Rye tavern, the fancier Piedmont's, and the kiosk-style Riverside Hearth. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Riverside Hearth, which featured eggs cooked-to-order, pastries, fruit, and more. There's also Harmony Market, which offers grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, coffee drinks, and snacks.
From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, Current's slings casual bites and tropical drinks down by the pool. And from April through November, Turnberry's offers both sit-down options and grab-and go bites between holes 9 and 10 out on the Greg Norman golf course.
Lansdowne also hosts a number of special dining events that are perfect for a moms’ night out! On select Fridays from April through October, guests can enjoy live music, cocktails, and light bites at the outdoor Harmony Garden. And on Friday and Saturday nights, the resort's Great Room hosts live jazz with food, craft cocktails, and champagne.
Take a stroll around Historic Downtown Leesburg, just six miles from the resort.
Historic Downtown Leesburg
While you certainly don’t need to leave the resort, a trip into historic Downtown Leesburg is sure to make for a fun addition to your weekend itinerary! Just six miles away, the charming town feels like a Hallmark movie. We strolled the quaint streets, explored the unique shops, and ducked into a couple of sweet little wine bars.
Family-Friendly Activities at Lansdowne Resort
While our visit was all about kid-free fun, what mom wouldn’t notice Lansdowne’s many family-friendly features, from the twisty water slide to the playground to roasting s’mores at an outdoor firepit? If you’re so well-rested from your girls’ trip that you’re ready to start thinking about your next family vacation, Lansdowne certainly has a lot to offer all ages.
Throughout the year, Lansdowne offers various family packages, including an almost-too-good-to-be-true Spring Break Package that keeps kids busy with supervised game room time, tennis, cooking lessons, and movie nights while parents get some R&R. The resort also hosts a number of kid-centric holiday events, including an Easter egg hunt, Mother's Day brunch, 4th of July fireworks, and breakfast with Santa.
Whether you're celebrating Mother's Day or a major milestone, Lansdowne is a perfect place to relax and reset.
