Labor Day weekend is nearly upon us, and the milestone typically marks the end of the beach season in the tri-state area, but from the Jersey Shore to the sands of Long Island and Westchester County, area beaches are extending their seasons, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a little more sun and surf.

Read on for the details on which family-friendly beaches are welcoming visitors into September.

Jersey Shore Beaches Extending Their Seasons

The following Jersey Shore beaches remain open daily:

  • Asbury Park is open daily through Wednesday, September 30.
  • Long Branch is open daily through Wednesday, September 30.
  • Seaside Heights is open daily through Sunday, September 13, and weekends only thereafter through Sunday, September 27.

The following Jersey Shore beaches remain open weekends only:

  • Avon is open weekends through Sunday, September 20.
  • Manasquan is open weekends through Sunday, September 20.
  • Monmouth Beach is open weekends through Sunday, September 13.
  • Ocean Grove is open weekends through Sunday, September 20.
  • Ortley Beach is open weekends through Sunday, September 27.
  • Seaside Park is open weekends through Sunday, September 27.

Long Island Beaches Extending Their Summer Seasons

Jones Beach's Field 6 remains open daily through Sunday, September 20. Field 2 is open weekends only through the same date.

Robert Moses' Field 2 and 5 are open daily through Sunday, September 20. Fields 3 and 4 are open daily through Sunday, September 13, plus Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20.

Sunken Meadow's Main Beach is open daily through Sunday, September 20; the East Beach is open weekends only through Sunday, September 20.

Hither Hills beach is open daily through Sunday, September 20.

Nickerson Beach is open daily through Sunday, September 27. Nickerson Beach continues to be open only to Nassau County residents.

Wildwood Beach is open weekends only through Sunday, September 20.

Westchester County Beaches Extending Their Seasons

Beaches at both Playland Park in Rye and Croton Point Park in Croton have extended their seasons past Labor Day for the first time and remain open weekends through Sunday, September 20.
