A number of Chicago's outdoor adventure parks remain open into the fall, offering one last chance to get out and enjoy the outdoors before our tough winter sets in. These parks offer zip lines, aerial ropes courses, suspended bridges, and sometimes climbing walls, too.

Many of these adventure parks could become part of a larger weekend trip or a special birthday trip, especially when your Chicago kid finally hits the height requirement!

Each one of these outdoor play spaces has its own rules, including new procedures related to COVID-19, such as mask requirements and online reservations in some cases. The zip lines, especially, require a certain age, height, and weight of participants, but many of the aerial adventure parks do as well. Parents with little kids should make sure they qualify before heading out or risk some disappointed youngsters. Some courses may close early depending on the weather or restrictions in each state or county, so check websites or call ahead before each visit.
