Where Teens and Tweens Can Glam Up at a Spa Party in Westchester

2/27/16 - By Melissa Kagan

Planning a birthday party for a tween or a teen? As your child heads into the teenage years, it can be difficult to find the right way to celebrate a birthday. Chances are, she's well beyond the princess or super hero thing, and going to the movies with friends may not be special enough. Since a hallmark of young adults is that they try to be more like adults, a spa party booked with professionals and a few close friends at a salon can be just the right answer.

While some spas specialize in massage and facials, others only do manicures and pedicures—it pays to do some research ahead of time. Here are few of our favorite spots to book your teen’s next birthday or get-together in Westchester.

Rachele Rose is run by two sisters whose mission is to help others relax. After entering the spa and donning some plush robes, your teen and her friends can choose between a mini facial, a mini massage or a mini foot bath (or any combination of two). Light snacks can be brought in or even provided by the spa—the two women recommend taking them up on the chocolate fondue for guests.

PlushBLOW – Rye
53 Purchase Street
(914) 967-7100
PlushBLOW is exclusively a blowdry bar—meaning they don’t do anything else—so this would work best for a teen seeking something simple. The Rye location (they are also in Greenwich and Scarsdale) has six seats that can can only accommodate about six to eight people in total (each person takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on hair length and thickness). The salon will order cupcakes for your party and will include Plush Ponies (hair ties) at no cost for each guest. Hot iron curls, up-dos and hair treatments are extra.

8 Bowman Avenue
(914) 939-7800
Celebrity-obsessed teens can get the red carpet look they covet at Beauty Bar and Salon in Port Chester. The staff will accommodate teen and tween makeover parties (light makeup and hairstyles) at their Port Chester location, and they will also make house visits for get-togethers.

(914) 424-1978
Don’t feel like schlepping to a salon with a bunch of teenagers in tow? Spa Party Sisters will bring the fun to your home and pamper guests with mini manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, hair styling and makeup looks. They provide robes, products, music, candles, tables, chairs and gift bags. Skincare and makeup tutorials are also available upon request.

Glo Beauty Bar – Mamaroneck
605 E. Boston Road
(914) 732-3033
Glo customizes teen and tween parties to your preferences. They can do mini makeovers for each guest and include tutorials, so guests can learn how to achieve an age-appropriate hair and makeup look. They will take care of the food and beverages for you as long as you provide details about what you want. Parties typically occur on Sunday afternoons or evenings after the salon is closed to the public.

Oasis Day Spa – Dobbs Ferry
25 Stanley Avenue
(914) 409-1900
Oasis Day Spa really knows how to throw a teen party, with both birthday party and B’nai Mitzvah experience. Guests arrive and immediately slip into robes and slippers; they then choose from a vast array of services, including mini facials, massages, nail services, hair styling and age-appropriate makeup. The number of options friends can choose from is determined by the host, which in turn determines the price of the beauty bash.
