4th Of July Fireworks On The North Fork And The Hamptons

6/27/13 - By Jessica Murphy

The Fourth of July is on Thursday this year, which for many people means a long weekend of fun, hopefully in the sun! It also means there are celebrations starting Tuesday and continuing throughout the weekend. Of course, a spectacular fireworks display is always impressive and definitely makes the day feel special. However, these extravagant displays often start too late or are too scary for young children, so a parade or a carnival is also an exciting way to celebrate the holiday. For even more fireworks fun in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, check out 4th of July Fireworks on Long Island.

Many firework shows are at beaches, so it's a great idea to arrive early and make a day out of it. Before the show starts, enjoy some beach time and bring along a picnic basket. Remember to bring sunscreen and lots of water to drink if it's a hot day. And don’t forget that the firework shows generally start at dusk, so be realistic about how long your children can wait, and bring along some activities to keep them entertained until the show begins.
