Martin Luther King Jr. Day Unity Walk
The community can come together for a Unity Walk in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Santa Clarita's Central Park.
The event kicks off with a brief program focusing on Dr. King’s legacy and contributions to our Nation, all centered around this year’s theme - “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365,” honoring his life and impact.
The annual MLK Day Unity Walk begins with a brief program, led by Mayor Bill Miranda, between fields #5 and #6 in Central Park.
The morning’s program features guest speakers, including children from the community, as well as moving musical performances. There are two walk lengths offered this year, giving participants the option to choose between .6 miles and 1.1 miles.
Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items as well as laundry detergent pods, paper products and toiletries to donate to participating nonprofit service providers (see website for list of requested items)
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Unity Walk is free and open to the public. No advanced registration is required.
