A Long Island Ducks baseball game is a home run experience for the whole family. The minor league Long Island Ducks play their home games at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, where my kids were thrilled to attend their first-ever baseball game.

The Ducks game delivers a memorable day or night of baseball magic and interactive activities for the little ones. Parents love the family time and stadium pricing that won't break the bank.

Read on for all the family-friendly Long Island Ducks game details to plan an outing, which earns a spot on our list of Long Island’s top attractions to visit with kids.

Where do the Long Island Ducks Play?

A visit to Fairfield Properties Ballpark, the 6,000-plus-seat home of the Long Island Ducks in Suffolk County, will not disappoint. The ballpark offers fans an intimate setting to watch all the action unfold. The Ducks have been part of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball since 2000 and have a loyal fan base. Families count this ballpark as one of the best sports outings on Long Island.

My kids hopped out of the car, gloves in hand, ready to root for the home team and explore this impressive Long Island ballpark. It's a short walk from the free parking area to the venue. Heading into the stadium my kids got their first glimpse at the field and baseball diamond. Their excitement bubbled over as we began our adventure.

Tickets are available to purchase online and at the ticket booth. Prices vary depending on seat location but range around 20 dollars a ticket. Children three and under are free but must sit on an adult's lap during the game. Gates open an hour before the game.

Catch a Long Island Ducks Game: Fun Zone
Kids can get their energy out at the “Fun Zone” with some bounce house time!

Kid-Centric Fun at a Long Island Ducks Game

Kids of all ages are in for a treat before the baseball game even begins. Long Island Ducks mascot QuakerJack is a central member of the team. This duck is a huge hit with the little ones and is featured all over the ballpark. My kids could not get enough of QuackerJack’s dancing and entertaining the crowd before and throughout the game.

Next, head to the “Fun Zone” with the kids for bounce house time. An entrance wristband costs five dollars. Bounce tunnels, a bounce house, and slides make up the activity space. The area opens ahead of the game and stays open through the 7th-inning stretch but is more crowded during the game.

There are also raffles to enter, giveaways on certain days, and a Long Island Ducks Kids Club. The membership is $25 to join if your family attends games often. The Kids Club affords the youngest Ducks fans a ticket voucher and other fun game day perks.

Fairfield Properties Ballpark: Food and Snacks

Food and snacks are half the excitement for kids at a ballgame. Concessions line the ballpark corridors with traditional game day fare like hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fries. Picnic table areas are scattered near the concessions if you choose not to eat at your seats.

Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the stadium so be sure to budget for food or eat before. My little ones loved chowing down on their hot dogs and fries while watching the game. They also enjoyed a special Ducks ice cream helmet treat for dessert.

A higher-end dining option for season ticket holders, mini-plan holders, and luxury suite holders is The Duck Club, the stadium’s sit-down restaurant and bar on the club level. On Thursday, the restaurant is open to all fans as part of the Thirsty Thursday promotion. Views of the game and a children's menu make this another family-friendly alternative to the concessions.

Long Island Ducks Special Events, Baseball Camp, and More

The stadium hosts an array of fun contests in between innings, promotions, and theme games during the season. Kids have a chance to run the bases after certain weekend games. Post-game fireworks nights are popular and a spectacular way to end a fun family night. A big highlight for my kids was singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th-inning stretch. Check out the Long Island Ducks schedule and website for upcoming game promotions and event details.

The Ducks and the Junior Ducks Baseball Organization also host a baseball camp in the summer. Ducks players participate in clinics teaching on-the-field skills to kids ages 5-12.

Our adventure ended with a stop in the stadium's souvenir store, the Waddle In Shop, filled with cute Ducks mementos. America’s pastime is alive and well at this community-favorite minor-league ballpark. My kids grabbed the Long Island Ducks schedule on the way out and are already planning our next game.
