This weekend marks the opening of a favorite East End tradition: The 38th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show. With horses, competitions, shopping, food, and kiddie activities, it has something for everyone. Get crafty at the Art Show and Craft Fair on Shelter Island and the Quilt Show in Water Mill. Especially for the younger set, enjoy puppets and dragonflies at local libraries. Read on for our favorite picks for the weekend of August 24-25.

With 65 acres of show grounds and featuring over 1,600 horses, the Hampton Classic is one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the United States. Opening day is today. Enjoy cookie decorating with Citarella, and a trick roper onstage demonstrating rope tricks and target whips.
