Holiday Light Show Returns to the Bronx Zoo After 10 Years

The Bronx Zoo, one of our favorite places in NYC to visit with kids and visitors, just announced that it will bring back its holiday light show for 2019, for the first time in more than 10 years. It’s never too soon to get excited about the holiday season in New York City, especially when the seasonal lights will be bigger, brighter, and greener than ever before. The Bronx Zoo will welcome families to its walk-through light experience starting November 21, 2019. Read on for more details and photos about the biggest holiday light show to come to NYC since, well, the tree.

Holiday lights at the Bronx Zoo will span several acres of the zoo and include wildlife-themed LED displays, custom lanterns, and animated light shows on the historic Astor Court. The zoo will stay open late for the holiday fun, which will also include music, ice carving demonstrations, caroling, performances, seasonal treats, and souvenirs. Kiddie train rides are also sure to be a hit with the younger crowd.

While New Yorkers have their pick of brilliant holiday light displays, from Fifth Avenue to Dyker Heights to Snug Harbor, it's exciting the see the Bronx Zoo bringing back its holiday tradition for the first time since 2007, when the Wildlife Conservation Society made the decision to discontinue a holiday light show because it was out of alignment with the zoo's mission of conservation. This year's display takes advantage of new LED technology to make the light show more environmentally friendly.
Holiday lights at the Bronx Zoo will shine from November 21, 2019 through January 5, 2020. Visit the zoo’s website for more info as details become available, and to buy tickets..
