Get Ready: New York State's Biggest Indoor Water Park Opens in April
The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark—billed as the biggest indoor water park in New York state—is finally opening this spring!
Since we first learned about this exciting new indoor water park in the Catskills over a year ago, we’ve been eagerly anticipating its grand opening. Originally scheduled for April 5, the resort has announced that the opening will now take place Friday, April 19, 2019.
Located about 2 hours from midtown Manhattan in Monticello, NY, the Kartrite is an exciting alternative to farther-afield indoor water parks in the NYC area. Reservations are now open for April and beyond—perfect for spring break, a weekend away, or your family's summer vacation. Read on for more details, plus a peek inside the space.

The resort occupies two acres of parkland in the Catskills.
Sitting on two acres, the Kartrite features 324 rooms— all one-, two- and three-bedroom suites plus bunk bed configurations—to comfortably accommodate families big and small, as well as friends and multi-generational groups traveling together.
If your kids love the water, they’re in luck! Geared toward thrillseekers ages 8 and up, the signature Nor’Easter is a 48-foot-long slide with rafts that literally send riders soaring. There are also racing slides, a surf simulator, wave pool and lazy river, plus a shallow splash pad for babies. All the water features are housed under a transparent Texlon roof designed to let in plenty of natural sunlight. Plus, the water park is always a warm 84 degrees, no matter the season.

There won't be a minute of downtime with ropes courses, rock climbing, and other kid-friendly activities.
Even on “dry land” at the resort, the action doesn’t stop, with an arcade, bowling alley, ropes course, rock climbing, laser tag, and more (additional fees apply). In addition, a fun schedule of daily activities is being planned, including s’mores making, pajama runway parties and movie nights, birdhouse building, archery tag, and mug decorating.
Originally owned by the same people behind the Camelback Resort in the Poconos (The Kartrite is named after Camelback’s worldly explorer character Sir Kartrite Van Der Berris), the resort will open under the management of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, known for its luxurious resorts in Hawaii, Santa Barbara, and Miami Beach.
Like other Benchmark properties, this resort evokes a decidedly upscale feel—meaning parents can be just as pampered as their kids. Private cabanas on the mezzanine level provide a retreat from the action, or enjoy an in-room massage while your kids splash and slide.

The resort will feature plenty of dining options for kids and adults.
Dining options include a picky eater–friendly buffet, a sweets shop, and quick service restaurants, but if you want to take it up a notch, head to Harvey’s Wallbanger for a cocktail at the end of a long day.
Reservations booked now can take advantage of up to $250 worth of resort credits if you stay four nights or more. There's a 25% discount on reservations made 90 days in advance, so if you're tempted, you might want to block out that summer vacation pronto. A limited number of day passes will be available.
We’re planning to visit The Kartrite as soon as it opens to bring you a first look inside, so stay tuned.
