Artmaking at the New York Botanical Garden
The Whitney Museum leads a special artmaking project at the New York Botanical Garden. A tour of the Azalea Garden is followed by the opportunity to create watercolors inspired by the scenic surroundings.
This artmaking project is inspired by artist Joseph Stella, a Bronx resident and Italian immigrant who—missing the plants from his native country—would visit the New York Botanical Garden in the early 20th century for artistic inspiration.
This project is part of the Whitney Museum's efforts to bring contemporary American art and artists outside of its galleries and directly to New Yorkers across the city.
Registration is not required. Artmaking is included in NYBG All-Garden Pass admission and kids ages 12 and under who arrive in Wonderland-inspired attire enjoy free admission this weekend.
