Richmond Town Independence Day Celebration

Sat Jul 2, 2022
10:00am to 4:00pm ET

Celebrate our nation’s independence with old-fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town on July 4 for home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and an inspirational reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Talk with costumed interpreters inside the historic Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse and visit historic tradespeople in New York City’s living history village.

  • Make your own flags & Victorian paper pinwheels, and march in the Pinwheel Parade.
  • Sign an oversized Declaration of Independence with a quill and ink.
  • Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Churn ice cream the old-fashioned way.
  • Learn the Science Behind Fireworks with a demonstration by The Unexcelled Firework Company (1888-1944).
  • See Phydeaux' Flying Flea Circus and the Wahoo Medicine Show.

Special Features Each Day:

July 2: Meet living historians depicting John Adams and Thomas Jefferson

July 3: Enjoy patriotic music of the New Jersey Fife and Corps and meet a living historian depicting Betsy Ross

July 4: Special features mark the day, including home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
