Richmond Town Independence Day Celebration
Celebrate our nation’s independence with old-fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town on July 4 for home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and an inspirational reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Talk with costumed interpreters inside the historic Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse and visit historic tradespeople in New York City’s living history village.
Activities:
- Make your own flags & Victorian paper pinwheels, and march in the Pinwheel Parade.
- Sign an oversized Declaration of Independence with a quill and ink.
- Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.
- Churn ice cream the old-fashioned way.
- Learn the Science Behind Fireworks with a demonstration by The Unexcelled Firework Company (1888-1944).
- See Phydeaux' Flying Flea Circus and the Wahoo Medicine Show.
Special Features Each Day:
July 2: Meet living historians depicting John Adams and Thomas Jefferson
July 3: Enjoy patriotic music of the New Jersey Fife and Corps and meet a living historian depicting Betsy Ross
July 4: Special features mark the day, including home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
