All are invited to visit Historic Richmond Town virtually. A series of videos and content will be posted throughout the day, honoring the stories of Staten Islanders who lived in our buildings, and traditional activities held in previous celebrations.

SCHEDULE OF VIRTUAL EVENTS:

  • Make your own pinwheel - July 3 Get ready for your celebration on the 4th! (Activity for youth and families)
  • Pie Baking at Historic Richmond Town - 11:00am Historical Interpreters tour the Guyon-Lake-Tysen house, and demonstrate pie baking, a staple of July 4th celebrations at Historic Richmond Town.
  • Voices of Independence Join us virtually for a series of video readings of American political figures and authors.
  • Voices of Independence: The Declaration of Independence read by John W. Lavelle Preparatory Charter School students - 12:00pm
  • Voices of Independence: What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? by Frederick Douglass - 12:30pm
  • Voices of Independence: The Building of a Ship by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - 1:00pm
  • Voices of Independence: The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus - 2:00pm
  • Voices of Independence: Let America be America Again by Langston Hughes - 2:30pm
