Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
“Why don’t you take a picture? It’ll last longer.” The enduring Pee-Wee's Big Adventure plays in a family matinee at the Academy Museum.
About the film: Pee-wee Herman’s most prized possession is his red bicycle; he refuses to sell it even to his wealthy neighbor, Francis. When the bike is suddenly stolen, Pee-wee is relentless in his search to get it back, even embarking on a road trip across the country after given a phony tip. Will Pee-wee ever reunite with his beloved bike?
This charmingly quirky film was Tim Burton’s feature directorial debut and marked his first collaboration with then Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman, the film’s composer.
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is directed by Tim Burton and stars Paul Reubens, Elizabeth Daily, and Mark Holton. The 1985 film has a runtime of 91 minutes and is rated PG; suitable for ages 7 and up.
