Frightfully Fintastic Fishy Fest
Santa Monica Pier Aquarium holds its annual Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebration all weekend.
Both days feature Día de los Muertos crafts, glow-in-the-dark science laboratory, and deep-sea animal artifacts. Face painting and scary story times (Sat 2pm) are scheduled throughout the weekend, too.
On Sunday the Aquarium is also the starting point for the Pier's annual Halloween Costume Parade, with trick-or-treating stops at participating Pier businesses. Kids can get their faces painted or borrow costumes at the Aquarium before heading out, if they arrive without costumes of their own. Plan on being back at the aquarium for 3:30pm, though, for the weekly shark feeding.
Parking prices for all day beach lots vary; two hours of free parking is available in the city's public lots on 2nd Street, or two hour metered parking in the short term lot at the end of Seaside.
