Hello August! Ready to make the most of the last month of summer? Let the kids burn off some energy at Dino Trux Weekend at Field Station: Dinosaurs or Block Party at the Liberty Science Center.  If you’re looking for outdoor adventure, head to Cape May Point State Park for their Pond Life Animal Show or catch your first fish at Turkey Swamp Park. Dino Trux Weekend (Secaucus, NJ)
What's the best combo since peas and carrots? Dinosaurs and trucks of course! They're both big and loud and on display at Field Station: Dinosaurs, from Compsognathus to Ford F-150 and everything in between. LaQ is the hottest new kids construction system, and FSD will feature interactive displays including a giant LaQ mural kids create and an enormous LaQ dinosaur. And kids can wind down after a busy day with a special Dino Trux story time. All ages welcome. Saturday & Sunday at 10am. Cost varies depending on activities.

Block Party (Jersey City, NJ)
Looking for an indoor activity away from the sweltering summer heat? Check out Block Party at Liberty Science Center this weekend. Using over 1500 oversized blocks, cubes, cogs, curves, cylinders, and even arches kids can create whimsical buildings, ocean-going vessels, space-bound rocket ships, futuristic cities and fabulous forts in this engineering fun fest. And a big plus: builders under 5 have their own area with hundreds of blocks and no big kids! If you’re still in the mood to explore check out the snakes, iguanas and turtles in the popular Eat and Be Eaten wing or sign up for the Dino Dig to search for fossils. Recommended for ages 2-12. 8th Annual Ducky Derby (Farmingdale, NJ)
Head to the beautiful Allaire Village this Saturday for a squeaky good time at the Ducky Derby fundraiser! Ducks go on sale at 10am and the little yellow toys begin their race down Mill Pond at 11am sharp. Over $500 in gift certificates will be awarded to the winners! And if you’ve got little tots in tow and are just looking for some laid back fun, have the kids fish for duckies in the Lucky Ducky pond before getting their faces painted. How Thumbelina Found Her Wings (Princeton, NJ)
Inject a little culture into your summer and head to the beautiful suburb of Princeton to catch a performance of How Thumbelina Found Her Wings. This new adaptation at the Hamilton Murray Theater on the Princeton University Campus brings the beloved fairy tale to life as you've never seen it before! With silly characters and wild adventures, the show promises fun for all ages. Kids can also participate in post-show talk-backs at every performance so they can meet their favorite characters and talk about the play. All ages welcome. 11am. $9/Person. 877-238-5596

My First Fish (Freehold Township, NJ)
Have you seen the look on the face of children when they catch that first fish? Bring the gang to Turkey Swamp Park this Saturday and a Park System Naturalists help you and your child land that first big one. There will be a fun time and lots of stories about the fish caught and the ones that got away. The program is catch and release! Bait, fishing poles and instruction are provided. Pond Life Animal Show (Cape May Point, NJ)
Duck into the nature center at Cape May Point State Park this Sunday for an interactive Pond Life Animal Show! Your group will learn all about the animals that call New Jersey ponds home, including frogs, fish and other slimy things! After class is dismissed explore this beautiful state park – take a hike along the coastal dunes, marshes and forest trails before checking out the historic Cape May Lighthouse – the 157-foot-high structure dates back to 1823! Open Arms: Garden State Discovery Museum (Cherry Hill, NJ)
The Garden State Discovery Museum is hosting one of their Open Arms Family Evenings this Sunday – children on the Autism Spectrum and their families (and caregivers) are invited to enjoy the museum after hours! All exhibits will be available for open play. Animal lovers can check out the popular Dinosaurium, the Turtle Bog and the Wildlife Area. Younger tots can explore in the Little Discoveries room or check out bubbles in the Bubble Trouble exhibit. All ages welcome. Pre-registration is not required. 6-8pm. FREE. 856-424-1233
