This time of year, the transition from one holiday to the next happens almost before you know it. Our calendar is growing daily with tons of holiday events for families in the greater Boston area through the end of the year. Whether your family has its annual “must-see” favorite or is considering attending a new show, it’s not too early to start making your plans.
One great resource is the Mayor’s Holiday Special website, which offers half-price tickets to many holiday shows all over Greater Boston, a $10-off holiday dining deal, and a full calendar of holiday festivities. The website is available November 1 through January 1, 2014.
The Mayor's Holiday Special has half-price tickets for dozens of productions, including Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker, BalletRox’s Urban Nutcracker, Holiday Pops, José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker, The Christmas Revels, and more.
Dinner and a show. The Mayor’s Holiday Special also offers a $10-off coupon good at some of the top local restaurants in the area. Most of the participating restaurants are more appropriate for a date night than a family meal, but if you and yours have the chance to treat yourselves, print out the coupon from the website, spend $40 at any of the participating restaurants (no trouble there!), and you can save $10.
Some of the fine print. Note that half-price ticket quantities are limited, and the shows available change frequently. This means that you may want to visit the website frequently if you are looking for discounted tickets to a particular show or just want to see what's available. You can also sign up to receive emails about new additions and special offers.
