Japan Family Day at Santa Anita Park was started as a way to introduce Japanese traditional culture and to interact with the people of Southern California. The annual event is SoCal's biggest Japanese Family Festival.

Highlights of the festival include Sunday's Tokyo City Cup G3 and other horse racing, Japanese traditional/pop culture, and Japanese dining favorites. 

The event celebrates the partnership between Santa Anita Park and its sister thoroughbred racetrack, TCK Oi Racetrack in Tokyo.

This year's special events and performances include a taiko (Japanese drum) performance, cosplay and Japanese pop culture, and a live calligraphy performance. The Kids Fun Area features games, a bounce house, Japanese Matsuri booth and a kids dance stage.

Guests can indulge in favorite Japanese cuisine including sushi, yakitori, yakisoba, onigiri, curry rice, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, tonkatsu, tamagoyaki, Japanese BBQ, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and shaved ice.

Tickets are $5 before October 2,  $10 thereafter.
