Game Tournament at Nintendo World
Here's a different activity I just stumbled upon, the first Sunday of every month they host a tournament at the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center. Since I just discovered this I can't tell you too many details, but it looks like you just call to sign up and show up to play. Each Tournament features a different game. This Sunday is Planet Puzzle League, a strategy game.
Little Red Lighthouse
Enjoy a rare tour of the little lighthouse made famous in the picture book The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge. Just meet at the lighthouse at 1pm on Saturday. FREE
Moey's Music Party
Hear a free concert and CD release party at the Bank Street Book Store for local mommy-rocker Melissa Levis who performs a bouncy, fun UES brand of kiddie rock. Recommended for ages 3-6. Saturday, March 1 at 11am. FREE
Some other recommended things to do with kids this weekend that are worth the price:
Medieval Arts Family Workshop - Cathedral of St. John the Divine
This is a great educational activity for both little and bigger kids. Kids really get to try out carving stone like a real medieval artisan, create their own illuminated initial letter, designa stained glass window and more. Perhaps the highlight for most kids is creating their own gargoyles out of clay. Recommended for ages 4 and up. $5 per child, with accompanying adult. For more information and reservations please call (212) 932-7347. All programs meet for registration at the Visitor Center inside the Cathedral entrance, at 112 Street & Amsterdam Avenue. After the workshop be sure to look at the children's sculptures in the peace garden next store and get a treat at the Hungarian Bakery across the street (great pizzeria there too). Saturday, March 1, 10-12am.
Matrix Kids Cut-a-Thon
On March 2, the Matrix professional haircare brand's top stylists will provide haircuts to children aged 10 and under. A $20 donation is suggested for each cut and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Matrix will provide food, entertainment, and gift bags for all participants. Register Online. At time of press there was still availability for 2:30pm, but some slots will be made available for walk-ins so, if you're in the neighborhood, drop by to help support this great cause.

Still Hip Brooklyn Bag Sale
Cool Clinton Hill children's and maternity resale boutique, Still Hip, is having an amazing sale this weekend. Buy a bag for $10 and fill it from the bins of clothing, toys and gear. Doors open at 9:30am and this great sale event has been very widely publicized, so I would recommend going early and expecting crowds. Sunday, March 2, 9:30am-6pm
