Dreams do come true in New Orleans... and at the Academy Museum, where The Princess and the Frog screens.

This traditionally animated musical inspired by E. D. Baker’s book The Frog Princess, itself a reimagining of the Brothers Grimm classic The Frog Prince, moves the story to 1920s New Orleans and is the first of Disney’s animated features to center Black characters.

Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the team responsible for such modern classics as The Little Mermaid (1989) and Aladdin (1992), the film received nominations for Animated Feature Film and for two of the original songs by score composer Randy Newman, “Almost There” and “Down In New Orleans.” 

The Princess and the Frog features the voice talents of Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Keith David, and Michael-Leon Wooley. The 2009 animated film has a runtime of 97 minutes and is rated G;
