Peek-a-Boo Stroll-Thru: A Puppet Marvel!
- see all dates
We aren't the only ones who have been sheltering at home: the puppets of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater have as well, and you won't believe the hijinks they've got up to. You know what they say: when the puppeteers are away, the marionettes will play!
In March, BBMT’s puppeteers were sent home to shelter in place and the Theater went dark… sort of. Months went by. And with the absence of audiences and puppets left to their own devices, something wonderfully strange happened. When the people of BBMT were allowed to reenter the space, they discovered… magic.
The puppets have been using their quarantine to bring their worlds to life – putting on shows for each other, practicing dance routines and piano performances, rearranging the Theater’s lights and decor to their liking, and getting into all sorts of shenanigans.
Families are invited to be guided through a by-appointment-only, private Bob Baker experience. In order to welcome guests into the experience, a special pathway has been carved out through the puppet’s world. Please note that this is a "look and do not touch" experience.
Bob Baker Marionette Theater is in active communication with Los Angeles city and local district representatives, as well as with TheatreDNA, a Los Angeles based theatre consulting firm, to ensure that this experience is compliant and observant of all city safety guidelines.
