Lift Off: A Waterfront Kite Festival
Sat May 13, 2023
11:00am to 3:00pm ET
Age: 5 and up
Price: Free
Location:
Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy kicks off its spring and summer programming season with this beloved kite-flying fest. This family-friendly event takes over BBP's Pier 5, offering all ages the opportunity to watch their kites soar above the Manhattan skyline while enjoying special activities exploring the science of flight.
The event emphasizes S.T.E.A.M (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) concepts such as wind tunnels, robotic air propellors, and outdoor adventures.
Kites are available for purchase at the event, or participants can bring their own. Workshops are also planned, to teach kite enthusiasts how to make kits in the Caribbean tradition.
Pack a picnic and enjoy.
