How were Greek vases made? Getty Villa visitors can find out in this multisensory session exploring Greek black and red-figure styles.

Participants examine and touch ancient vase fragments to learn how archaeologists and art historians gain important information from even small pieces of a broken vessel. Handle tools and materials similar to those used by ancient potters and painters, and identify vase shapes and the different painting techniques employed by artists.  

This is a free, drop-in program.

The activities are free but advance timed tickets to Getty Villa are required. Reservations are available online or by calling 310.440.7300.

On-site parking is $15 per car or motorcycle.
