The Long Island Children’s Museum invites families to celebrate a vibrant and joyous festival at a Holi celebration full of music, dance, crafts, and colorful fun.

Holi, known as the Festival of Colors, is a celebration of love, unity and the arrival of spring. LICM brings this exciting cultural tradition to life with an array of activities that will delight visitors of all ages.

The event will feature:

  • Ancient Tales Brought to Life: Watch as the Srijan Dance Company dazzles with traditional classical and folk dances that tell captivating Indian stories.
  • Creative Craft Stations: Explore your artistic side by making your own colorful Holi-inspired crafts. Visitors can create Prahlāda masks and good fortune bracelets, learn the art of hand block printing and decorate a sample textile to take home and explore the intricate designs in saris and Indian fashion.
  • Wisdom Welcome: A large eight-foot model of an elephant, the symbol of wisdom and good luck in Hindu mythology, will greet visitors as they enter the Museum. Visitors will add jewel and adhesive adornments to the elephant throughout the afternoon.
  • Savor the Flavors of Holi: Sample a delightful array of Holi-inspired snacks and treats that bring the flavors of this joyous festival to life!
  • Color Throwing Fun: Step outside for the ultimate Holi experience. Join in a colorful and playful color throw (using safe, non-toxic, biodegradable powders). (Tip: Wear white clothes you don’t mind getting messy!)

Holi: A Festival of Colors! is made possible with the support of the Guru Krupa Foundation.
