December is here, and the holidays are coming quick. With just a few short weeks until Christmas, and even less until Hanukkah, New Jersey is bursting with holiday festivities for everyone to enjoy. Grab some breakfast with Santa at the Camden Children’s Garden or the Dickens of a Holiday in Mays Landing. Enjoy tree and menorah lighting ceremonies at Trailside Nature Center’s Holiday Craft Show and the NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation Holiday Tree Lighting. Take the family to the theater for holiday-themed performances of The Hip Hop Nutcracker and The Brave Little Tailor. And for little ones, stop by the free Milk and Cookies Storytelling Series. Schaefer Farms Holiday Light Show (Flemington, NJ)
Too cold for an outdoor light festival? Take a drive through Schaefer Farms and view thousands of brilliant farm and holiday themed lights from the comfort of your own car.

Annual Christkindlmarkt (Tuckerton, NJ)
Shop and stay warm at this huge holiday vendor fair with heated tents at the Tuckerton Seaport. Activities include food, craft sales, horse drawn cart rides, kiddie rides, entertainment and Santa.

JCCT Presents The Brave Little Tailor & Other Magical Myths (Jersey City, NJ)
Watch a magical village come to life, as the actors manage mischief, outwit obstacles and give generously in the spirit of the holidays. The show features shadow puppetry and a post-show workshop.

Saturday, December 6th

Milk & Cookies Storytelling Series (New Brunswick, NJ)
If you haven’t been to this free series, it’s definitely worth checking out. Children have the opportunity to experience the arts, with storytelling, music, puppetry, and the best part, cookies. This week’s theme is How the Bear Got a Short Tail and Other Winter Tales.

Breakfast with Santa at Camden Children’s Garden (Camden, NJ)
Indulge in a delicious breakfast with Santa Claus. Aside from the buffet brunch, each child receives holiday crafts, ride tickets for the train and carousel and a Santa photo. Reservations required.

Dickens of a Holiday in Mays Landing (Mays Landing, NJ)
Join the Clauses for breakfast, then head over to Memorial Park for a craft fair, with vendors, a train ride, a snowball toss and Scrooge.

Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation Holiday Tree Lighting (Holmdel, NJ)
Get in the spirit of various holidays with a Christmas tree and menorah lighting, plus a reading about Kwanzaa. The event is sponsored by New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 800 from Bergen County and the Jewish War Veterans.

Santa Fly-In (Teterboro, NJ)
Look up in the sky! You’ll see Santa flying in on his helicopter sleigh at the Teterboro Airport. There will be candy for the kids and photo opportunities.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker (Newark, NJ)
Enjoy an urban spin on this holiday classic, featuring explosive choreography, a DJ and digital scenery.

Sunday, December 7th

Downtown Millburn Snowflake Parade (Millburn, NJ)
Celebrate the holidays in Downtown Millburn with a parade, costumed characters, games, crafts and, of course, Santa himself.

Holiday Craft Show at Trailside Nature Center (Mountainside, NJ)
Get festive at Trailside with all kinds of holiday activities, including a tree and menorah lighting, tree decorating contest, Santa and a nature-themed craft sale.

Rocking the Spectrum (Cherry Hill, NJ)
Rock out at this free music seminar for families of autistic children. Participants can explore musical talents and learn how to incorporate music education and therapy into their daily lives.
