With extraordinary strength, independent spirit, and a wild imagination, Pippi Longstocking, the creation of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, rocked the literary world 80 years ago with her stories of freedom and rebellion.

The Embassy of Sweden is collaborating with the DC Public Library to host a Family Day to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Pippi Longstocking on Sunday, November 9, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. The event will feature story time, a musical performance, arts and crafts, an exhibition, a birthday cake and more.
